Are Brees and Fujita facing retaliation for their roles in CBA process?

As to Brees, Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com reports that the NFLPA recently has asked Commissioner Roger Goodell to explore whether the Saints are acting in good faith with respect to the Brees contract talks. Per La Canfora, some within the union believe Brees’ efforts last year in connection with the labor deal “might be held against him.” The union reportedly will file unfair labor practice charges, if the NFL does not investigate the situation.

As to Fujita, Tony Grossi of ESPNCleveland.com speculates that the NFL’s inclusion of the Browns linebacker within the quartet of suspended players may reflect payback for Fujita’s “outspoken” efforts in 2011, which included expressing concern about an 18-game regular season. “Fujita also questioned the league’s laxity in linking concussion injuries to long-term health effects,” Grossi writes. “In union meetings at which Goodell was present, Fujita was known for putting Goodell on spot with direct questions and refutations.”

Things have gone COMPLETELY off the deep end!! This is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Well maybe not ever...I have read a few dumb things here :)

Still..what sense would that make. Yeah make our franchise QB sweat because he voiced things during a lockout..yeah ok http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/b...oticons/bs.gif

Not a doubt in my mind. If Brees was not such a powerful player and in the public eye Goodell would and I am sure did everything he could to implicate Him. The man is a hate monger and thinks he is a King. Men with power like that do not like to be questioned and he will dig harder to get those that do.

Look. The reality that hardly ever gets talked about, is that ALL of the players AND coaches who actually suffered penalties in this "Bountygate" thing, ALL OF THEM -- every single one, no exceptions...they ALL had some kind of previous prior run-ins with Rodger Goodell, specific incidents which either caused him headaches or actually made Rodger Goodell look bad, personally, as commissioner of the league. It's a fact. Period. There's no getting around it.

First we were initially all told that it was supposedly this MASSIVE huge conspiracy thing, all these coaches and people in the Saints organization, totally evil from top to bottom, and "22-27 players" were involved and all that....it was huge...everybody here was in shock, bewildered, cr-pping their pants, like, "Wow, we are toast, they are really gonna throw the book at us. How will we even be able to have enough guys to field a team?" Remember that?

Then, when the penalties actually came down it was -- whoa, hold everything a minute, I'm getting an update in my earpiece -- turns out, it wasn't that big, but it was very conveniently just the same small batch of 7-8 troublemaking guys that Goodell had previously faced off with in either lawsuits, negotiations, discipline scandals, or controversies in the past couple years...every single one of them (!)....the only people actually called guilty or punished (besides Saints fans) were the same exact SPECIFIC guys who either made Rodger Goodell look bad, tangled with him previously, put egg on his face, or just gave him headaches and thorns in his side, in prior situations where Goodell didn't get the outcomes he wanted.

I mean isn't it such a freaking strange COINCIDENCE, that you have:

Hargrove (drugs)
Smith (starcaps)
Loomis/Vitt - named in Geoff Santini lawsuit.
Payton - named in Geoff Santini lawsuit and "friends" with Michael Ornstein, who the league does not like. Critizied Goodell too many times to count, on officiating and rule changes etc.
Vilma - poker scandal (was a minor scandal he had in New York with the Jets, that Goodell had to deal with)
Fujita - players' union representative who tangled with him at the meetings last year?

OK, I'll give them full credit on busting Gregg Williams, who seems to have indeed been a potty-mouthed, certifiably insane, rogue coach with extreme psychopathic tendencies and terrible skills in making Powerpoint slides -- we fans kinda knew most of that already. But do you remember Williams' cryptic "they've been trying to get me for years" comment, in Hargrove's written statement? WTF was that all about, I wonder.
