DUI may have impacted new Dolphin Will Poole's fall in draft

Dolphins cornerback Will Poole's fall from possible first-round pick to the fourth-round of the draft last month may have been impacted by him pleading guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol in February in California.

According to two NFL sources, Poole was arrested in February for the violation. He quickly pleaded guilty to the charge. Both the NFL and the Dolphins are aware of the situation, although Poole isn't subject to any punishment from the league or the team because the incident happened before he was drafted.

However, Poole, who earlier in his college career was suspended for stealing at Boston College, paid a significant price in terms of a possible contract. Dropping from the first round to the fourth likely cost Poole millions of dollars in an initial contract.

Poole, who was in New York and is unable to attend the Dolphins quarterback school because of NFL labor rules, could not be reached for comment. Agent Drew Rosenhaus declined to comment on the situation.

Maybe the Saints did their homework and have learned from past mistakes?

Maybe. Good thing they didn\'t give up two first rounders for a DT who would come to NO and balloon up in weight in his first offseason too! LOL.

Poole in the 3rd would have been a steal. Oh wait, my bad. We have two second rounders next year!!!! I wonder how we\'ll use them.

Now that we got Smith.....What are the odds that we end up letting Howard go via free-agency after next season? I bet they let him go. What do you guys think?
