A closer look at: Rodney Leisle
After the choices of WR Devery Henderson and LB Courtney Watson in the second round, the Saints made a deal with Washington.
The Saints moved up 12 spots in the fifth round to #139 and also received the Redskins' second round selection in the 2005 Draft as Washington moved down to the Saints' original pick at #151 and also received New Orleans' third round pick. At #151, the Saints selected one of the strongest players available in the draft as they took UCLA DT Rodney Leisle. Leisle (pronounced: leslie), a strapping 6-3, 309-pounder from Bakersfield, Calif., was very effective against the run for the Bruins as he had 40 total tackles and contributed three sacks in 2003. "Rodney is a tough, hard-nosed player," said Saints Director of Player Personnel Rick Mueller. "He is a guy who can probably play the three-technique and the nose. He bends well and plays with good leverage. He's a really good player against the run, a tremendous worker and a great person. He's another one of those lunch pail guys and we can't get enough of those." more? click here: http://www.neworleanssaints.com/news...?articleid=749 |
