New Orleans Saints: Drew Brees Is Battling Father Time

However, is Drew Brees still a championship winning quarterback? Mr. Brees is 33. He will be 34 in January. Forget how Drew Brees played this last season. At his age, Brees is now battling against Father Time.

And Father Time is unbeaten.

None of the guys mentioned in this article trained like Brees does, both on and off the field. The way he takes care of himself, and prepares to work, I can see him competing for championships for another 6 to 7 years, easily.

Danno 07-18-2012 07:42 PM

Geez, he probably has 5 to 8 years left before his body betrays him.

Halo 07-18-2012 07:48 PM

Look, this article would be topic of conversation if Drew were 37. He's 33.

They need to put this one in the deep freeze for 4 more years.

Aren't we all? Sigh.......

Yes. Sigh.............
However, it's better than not getting older.

So only 8 QBs 34-and-over started a SuperBowl and won it? ... Bart Starr, Brad Johnson, Len Dawson, Roger Staubach, Jim Plunkett, Johnny Unitas, John Elway (2x) ... I think Drew compares favorably to any of them ... he'll be alright, if NO can get him to the show, he'll win it, :).

DIDNT HE HAVE HIS BEST SEASON AS A PRO LAST YEAR? ooops on caps, sorry. Do people just write **** to write ****. Look busy Jesus is coming.

Yup

None have had a throwing arm rebuilt as Drew has. I'll take Dr Andrews & spot you father time any day.

Then so is Payton and Brady. We don't have to worry about that for at least 3 more seasons. Plenty of time for us to find an Aaron Rodgers for Drew and Payton to groom in the same fashion. I see Brees having a Farve type career as far as longevity. With the right team around him he could play at a high level until about 40.

Jamessr 07-19-2012 04:21 PM

Funny to read some of the comments being made here. About 3-4 weeks ago people were mentioned he's 33 and has about 2 years left...

SaintGup 07-19-2012 04:53 PM

Besides, I've seen Father Time play...can't read defenses, has poor accuracy and no leadership skills. So I will take Drew Brees over him any day.

TheDeuce 07-19-2012 05:31 PM

Not worried about right now... but I am concerned when he will be 39 and have a cap hit of over $20M. Until then let's enjoy the best in the business.

I, myself, personally said the same thing about elway years ago

Then he won two super bowls

AlaskaSaints 07-19-2012 08:19 PM

He's owed at least two retirements; like Brett!

Brees has beaten everyone else. Next up: Father Time.

NonieT 07-21-2012 08:04 PM

We are all battling Father Time. What is his point? Clown

... true, but maybe his angle is some battle harder then others?

Saint_LB 07-22-2012 07:54 AM

The clock ticks a little faster every time he gets knocked on his butt...

neugey 07-22-2012 08:00 AM

Roger Federer is battling Father Time too. We just saw at Wimbledon who's winning that battle :). And I think Brees is comparable to Roger both physically and mentally.

Yeah, didn't Federer just tie the record for the most Wimbledon championships? That'd be like Brees tying Bradshaw/Montana for SuperBowl wins @ 4 ... "and the crowd goes wild" ...
