Question for the Forum
Will the Saints try to make a statement to the league/NFL in the HOF game or will they play it like a pre-season game?
If it wasn't for the risk of injury in a meaningless game, I could see the Saints playing 2 or 3 series with the offensive starters to show what the Saints are capable of. |
I hope Im wrong but I could see Vitt going full throttle on this to prove that he is capable. I wish that he would just set back under the radar and play it like any other game, but that depends on the mans ego.
I could see the Saints play offensive & defensive starters for a series or 2; I seriously doubt they will see a full qrtr/half until the 3rd or possibly 4th preseason game
It'll be a normal HOF game. The starter's will play one series and that's it.
I think Goodell will only allow us to play if we reduce offense and defense by 5 players each and tell us we're not allowed to touch the ball at anytime.
Goodell is Goodell. He'll use the play in the HOF game as the reason why there should only be 2 preseason games & 18 reg season games. "..,when one of the top QBs of all times only plays one series we need to look at what we are providing the fans..."
Hopefully it'll be preseason as usual. Statement time'll come in the playoffs.
"Statements" will come in Week 1.

Maybe i am just un-sportsman like...
I wouldnt mind seeing 5 Cardinals carted off the field so Vitt can look at the press and say... "Now you know what happens IF we want to take players out of the game" |
I think the coaches will call it as usual for preseason, especially Vitt. But for the individual players, it seems to me like few people out there have really considered the psychological impact of all this offseason misinformation and garbage out there about the Saints, with the media and Goodell wildly branding the team as a bunch of hooligans, cheaters, evil wiretappers, leg-breaking headhunters and so forth. No one knows what the smack talk is going to be like. You know some of the Cardinals will be mouthing off, trying to draw the Saints into penalties. I would not be at all surprised if it was a little more "chippy" out there than usual for a preseason game.
