New Orleans Saints unveil 'Rebirth' statue showing Steve Gleason's blocked punt

With training camp in full swing for the New Orleans Saints, the day of Friday, July 27, 2012 marked a big one for the team and it had nothing to do with practice. One of the most historic moments in the franchise's history was enshrined outside the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in a celebration of Steve Gleason's blocked punt in the first game back after Hurricane Katrina in 2006.
VIDEO: Relive the moment of Steve Gleason's blocked punt against the Atlanta Falcons View slideshow: Steve Gleason and the "Rebirth" statue tell so many tales for the New Orleans Saints The statue will officially be called "Rebirth" and it isn't about just one person or one moment. At least, that's what Gleason himself wants everyone to know. New Orleans Saints unveil 'Rebirth' statue showing Steve Gleason's blocked punt - New Orleans New Orleans Saints | Examiner.com |

I guess we should be honored they think that play vs us, was a reflection of when the state started rising up. But i guess that would also symbolize us as Katrina? In any case it shows how important playing us is to them and actually solidifies us as their 1 true rival. Bucs, kitties get nothing... and we get a statue. ____________________ You can hate their team but I really doesn't make since to hate their fans too. It's a game folks. Friendly banter is ok.... :bng: |
Wait... I take that back.... FF
Posted 26 July 2012 - 10:03 AM I can already see the evil plot for the statue if its gonna be outside....... it might go something like this. |
Just one more example of why the Falcon fans are the worst, most sports uneducated, bandwagon, heartless fans on the face of the planet. I know all teams have their idiots who are without even a sense of moral conscience but the falcon fans take it to a whole new level and always have. This statue is NOT about them. It is a memorial and a tribute to a city rising from the ashes, or water if you will, and a monument bringing awareness to a disease that is so dibilitating there is no cure and is fatal. I think the majority of us on here and in WhoDat nation understand that sometimes it goes beyond a game and a hated rivalry. The same can be said for most if not all other sports fans. But falcon fans, you can piss off becuse you just don't get it!!! And for the one who said they hope they hit Drew so hard he vomits all over, well Brees will carve up your so-called team in between heaves. Let me quit before I get upset.

The University of Alabama has statues of all their National Championship-winning coaches outside the stadium, and they are frequently targets of pranks. Some Auburn jackass taped a Cam Newton jersey onto Bear Bryant a few years ago, crap like that ... |
Hell, all this talk made me wanna watch it again! You all should, too!
Up there with Sid Bream's slide & Tracy Porter's INT in my all-time sports moments! |
That just gave me the Chills WOW ! Steve Gleason !!!!
|
Actually, Gleason came in from the other side and was more laid out to make the block than that. While I respect the thought, I think it was a poor rendition of the actual event.
Ok, just watched the video and my badd, lol. |
I sure did enjoy reading the falcon's fans comments, they are such a bitter bunch, LMAO!!!
