MONDAY MORNING QB, Drew Brees.

Drew Brees has something on his chest.
If you think the mayhem around the Saints is going to send them to 5-11ville, you're nuts. Too much talent. Too good a triggerman. You've all heard about the huge, glaring Sean Payton banner with "DO YOUR JOB" hanging over the Saints' indoor practice field. Interesting enough. I watched them doing it Friday, led by Brees. There's a drill the offensive skill players run early in practice, with quarterbacks getting the ball out to sprinting receivers and tight ends quickly. It's a nonstop, ping-ping-ping, one-throw-after-the-other completion-fest, and Brees, by my count, threw 18 balls in a row that his receivers barely had to reach for. Every one, right there. Just the way Sean Payton would have scripted it had he been there. But Payton is suspended for the year because of the bounty scandal, and the interim coach, Joe Vitt, will be gone for the first six games for his role in what the league says was a coverup of the scandal dating to 2009. No decision has been made on who will coach the team for the first six weeks of the season, but my money's on defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, who replaced you-know-who last winter. Obviously, removing the coach for the year and removing his aide-de-camp, Vitt, for the first 40 percent of the season is a crushing blow. Maybe it's naïve, and maybe I trust Brees too much, but I can't see the season going down the toilet with a quarterback as good as Brees putting up 28 or 30 points a week. Regarding Payton, Brees said: "Even though he's not here physically, I hear his voice in my head every day.'' "How will it affect this team?' I asked. Brees doesn't sound too confident
"I don't know. I think about it a lot. The hard thing is, your head coach (snaps his fingers) is gone like that. He's just gone. We're very familiar with coach Vitt, very comfortable, and then he's gone for the first six weeks. You take the two strongest presences in the building and remove them, and it's like taking the president and vice president away from government. You had better have a pretty strong Congress, then." As the saying goes, you train how you are going to fight. As long as they run pre-season like they will run it in a real fight they will be fine and you know that's exactly what they will do. Not worried about it. I'm more concerned with the potential for infighting later in the season.

Every moment I'm seeing your point more and more. Brees is telling us something. What do we have to look forward to? Why even follow them this year? I mean............... http://gifs.gifbin.com/042010/127081...ts-suicide.gif |

Your monthly medication costs must be enormous... Also Brees' analogy doesn't quite fit because we all know that living within a system based on the neoclassical model of economics - it doesn't matter what your president, vice president or Congress do, because they are all in the pocket of those multiple lobbyist (5 per Congressman) presenting the investment and big business markets. And, therefore, it's actually the Wall Street-Washington corridor that decides what penultimately takes place on both the political and practical levels. The western world can thank the insight of both Reagan and Thatcher for the fact that the classical model of economics that focuses on what actually is was replaced by the neoclassical model of economics which focuses on what should be, but will never actually be and in the process creates a system which is not sustainable in the long-run. But hey, at least they won the economic Cold War, so who are we to judge?! OK. I'm off the soap box, but my message should be clear: chill out Dude! There are bigger issues in the world than whether or not the Saints are going to be fine without their suspended staff members... because they are. :beatnik: |
Peter King can kiss our arses. Why would we care what he thinks anymore!

Drew is a realist. He is simply stating the facts as they are... I prefer his honesty to rainbows and unicorn milk...
Our head coach is gone this season... It will have an impact... That statement has nothing to do with what is being done or will be done to overcome that hurdle. Our team is in the best hands it could possibly be in considering the situation. Sean Payton being out for the season is by no means a hurdle that cant be overcome.... Drew getting hurt is different story. Eat some bread, drink a glass of milk... and much like I said about Drews contract.. LET IT PLAY OUT! |
Nope, not clickin' that link. Not gonna do it!
Nice try though. |
At least they know what is ahead so they can get their head as right as possible.

"Our team is in the best hands it could possibly be in considering the situation." No one should think any different. Plus there is not one of the other 31 teams in this league that could do any better. |
Come on. Anybody ever seen this on the sidelines before? When Drew gets mad, he doesn't yell or throw things or scream at his linemen like certain other famous quarterbacks and players do. He just gets that p-ssed off, determined look on his face. I see that look on his face in a lot of these comments, determination, quiet confidence, not being rattled by what's happening. He's obviously sad that Payton's not around, he misses him -- why not show it? He knows Payton in exile will read it, right?
Besides, who is he talking to? Drew is talking to Peter King and playing him like a fiddle -- give him exactly what he wants, and not a cent more. He knows that Loomis, Vitt and Payton won't talk to King. It's a setup. You think Drew doesn't know who he's talking to, doesn't measure his words carefully when he is talking to different people and different audiences? You think he doesn't know how to manipulate the media? He's playing this up for sympathy, folks, and letting King look like a dick, on purpose. Drew is trying to turn public opinion against Goodell, and against the 16-game suspension. Since Payton has no real appeal process, the only way left to possibly get him back is through public relations. If Goodell starts losing in court, and the tide of public opinion on Bountygate swings to the point where it gets embarrassing to Goodell, he might save face by reducing the suspensions on the coaches/GM by a few games. It's a long shot, but it's the only shot we have. If anything, the more quiet and reserved Drew becomes as the season gets closer, the better I feel. |

Wrong! Unicorns are magical beings which are created with smiles, hugs and kisses, so they do not actually go through the natural maturing stages of a non-magical being. Henceforth, all unicorns are mature and male, like SaintGup stated above. http://ih3.redbubble.net/image.10134...er,375x360.png |

IDK, I was torn between that picture and this one, but decided to go with that one since it wasn't as low-brow as this one: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-tKjmKK_-0J...g-rainbows.jpg |
