Ingram and Cadet

Both looked amazing. Really impressed with Cadet. Whats the backstory on him? Ivory on the other hand just couldn't get anything going. He may be on the outside looking in before its all said and done. His injury past may just be his achilles heal. Did anyone else think they saw Ingram limping a little bit on the play right before he scored the TD?

SloMotion 08-05-2012 11:08 PM

Cadet's performance is what I noticed most about the game ... and Kolb getting knocked out of the game,.

QBREES9 08-05-2012 11:37 PM

Man I felt bad for Kolb. He just fell the wrong way.

CharityMike 08-06-2012 12:03 AM

Cadet looked like he was auditioning for his life. Good for him! He looked like Ivory did when Ivory was in his position. Now I don't know so much about Ivory. He didn't do anything.

QBREES9 08-06-2012 12:20 AM

Great depth at Running Back

Seer1 08-06-2012 01:47 AM

They were showcasing Ivory a lot. Didn't look like much play for play, but I bet his totals looked respectable. Do you think we're gonna shop him around in light of Ingram's and Cadet's strong showing?

pumpkindriver 08-06-2012 02:45 AM

Ingram & Cadet looked pretty good out there. Morgan made a couple of nice catches and returns. Ivory was pretty much bottled up. Chase did pretty good too after he settled down , the int was bad but thats why hes a back up.

boonedocksaint 08-06-2012 03:52 AM

cadet didnt run worth, ****e, but, his recieving ability and yac yards were legit.

ivory, didnt look great tonight, but, as of right now, his job is safe.

burningmetal 08-06-2012 04:58 AM

Yeah Ivory was in with the scrubs, so it's kinda hard to make much of that, but he at least made some positive yards. Cadet showed his open field quickness that we'd heard about coming out of college, but he didn't show anything between the tackles. The Saints won't keep him to be a receiving back when they already have two of those who are quite good. He has a lot more time to show something, but as of now Cadet is the one on the outside.

As for Ingram, I thought he looked good, but he showed flashes last preseason as well. When the regular season came, he just ran into his own linemen over and over. I'll withhold my judgement on him until I see some consistency when it matters.

TheOak 08-06-2012 06:20 AM

Thomas - Looked great!
Ingram - I like the way he runs
Ivory - not so impressed.
Cadet - at this point if a decision had to be made, he replaces Ivory in the line up... But that is what preseason is for... lets see how he fairs the rest of the preseason, and see what Ivory can produce or if he even stays healthy the rest of preseason.

I don't feel bad for him. He got paid millions for doing nothing. Plus, he just seems like a punk.

saintsfan1976 08-06-2012 06:55 AM

I don't think Ivory did a bad job tonight. He ran with purpose and made some nifty catch & runs. His problem may have had more to do with the shoddy backup O line play..

That being said, I'm for trading Ivory. Do it while he's worth something.

Cadet clearly has ability. Continue the "Ivory's Got Talent" tour and eventually a team will have a need at RB

I was about to type the exact same thing Mike. He also looked a lot like Pierre Thomas as an UDFA in 2007.

Agreed. I think they should have put more thought into the number they gave Cadet. It was VERY confusing at times to know if it was Cadet or Ivory..lol

Ivory being #29 and has dreads and Cadet being #39 and has dreads, it was giving the announcers trouble as well. They constantly kept saying the wrong name..lol

Seer1 08-06-2012 09:26 AM

Anyone have a link to some stats? I've been searching your internets for a while and all I can find are punk assed sports "writers" giving their opinion of the game. I'd like to see some numbers on Ivory. I'm saying he had a better game than many of you are giving him credit for. Especially with him running behind the #2 & #3 linemen.

New Orleans Saints: Chris Ivory

9 attempts..13 yards. Not good.

Mardigras9 08-06-2012 09:41 AM

If it comes down to Ivory or Cadet, Ivory's injury bug may be the decision maker. Cadet looked good, still have four games to decide.

Man, 1.4 average. My bad. Maybe it was his reception that stuck in my mind. I wasn't paying as much attention to the offense as I could've last night. It just seemed when I would look up he was running for 3-4 yards or really smacking into a defensive player. Selective memory, huh?

LOL..maybe but don't feel bad. it was really confusing trying to figure out if it was Ivory or Cadet running. They are like twins..lol

SaintsBro 08-06-2012 09:56 AM

Cadet's dreads are shorter, that's how I tell them apart. If they're both here in a year, and he lets them grow, they will be completely indistinguishable from one another on the field.

Ashley 08-06-2012 11:22 AM

What I liked is the interview after. Yes he talked about god( they all seem to do that), but what I liked was his manners. "yes sir". To me that stands out, that's the kind of players you want. If he makes the team or not, I do have respect for the young man.

Sorta like Mili-Vanili. Okay. I'm sorry. Somebody such punch my face for that one.

:dunce:

AllSaints 08-06-2012 12:36 PM

Why is everyone hating on Ivory the dudes a beast ! He will be on the Saints 53 roster you can gurantee that... Cadet is good catchin coming out the backfield but so is Pierre and Sproles .... so all you Ivory haters jus need to quit...

CharityMike 08-06-2012 12:39 PM

I am not hate'n..I merely pointed out the fact that he did diddly poo last night. Is what it is.

Rugby Saint II 08-06-2012 01:11 PM

Cadet was 1/8 of an inch away from being tackled multiple times. Let's see what he can do next week and see if we can get some consistency out of him. That has been Ivory's down fall.........he had problems fumbling early. Then he has had injury issues that just continue to hamper him.

I think Cadet is more comparable to Sproles running style than Ivorys. Ivory is a bruiser that runs hard up the middle punishing defensive lines but does not have a lot of quick moves and receiving abilities.Cadet seems to be better out of the backfield with short passes and likes to juke and use his speed to his advantage. Two completely different kinds of backs at this point. I want to see how well Cadet can run up the middle. He is definitely a keeper though and if cuts were today I would keep him over Ivory given his injury history. No way Cadet clears wires.

CharityMike 08-06-2012 01:29 PM

To be fair in comparing rushing stats.. Cadet had -3 yrds total..which is an even bigger yikes..lol

I think that had more to do with the play of the Oline than anything seeing as both he and Ivory were having problems in that area.

App90 08-06-2012 04:20 PM

Guys Im by no means saying Cadet will make your roster in New Orleans but watching him at App State I knew he would wind up some where. I am not a ASU Homer I know Cadet is from a small school, very few care about or write off as being small. But what I have noticed about the New Orleans coaching staff is that they find a way to make players from smaller schools fit in thier system. And its fun to root for them. While at ASU Cadet showed a very very explosive first 2-3 steps, incredible cut back ability, and was fearless in kik returning and in space he was incredible. The NO coaching staff used his skills like I have never seen before. He can take it to the edge and run north to south and can catch like I had never seen at ASU. Too bad our coaches didnt know how to use him. Will he make it maybe maybe not, but his heart is in it. Good luck to you guys this year. And I hope Cadet makes your roster. Either way at least the practice squad.

Vrillon82 08-06-2012 09:47 PM

Thing about Cadet is can he do that with the 1s vs the 1s?

Ivory on the other hand looked like Poo possibly because of the 2nd and 3rd string OL.

This is how we have to translate preseason games.

We wont know much more until 4th and 5th preseason games.

bobdog86 08-06-2012 10:05 PM

Preseason game 1, loved it. At this point it's way, way, way too early to sign anyone's death certificate, especially the decision on who are we going to keep and not keep. I do like Cadet and hope he makes the roster, but is he able to read sophisticated blitzes? Ivory's pretty damn good at protecting our 100 million dollar investment...one bad hit or missed assignment and it could be a long season. I hope they can find spot for both, if not, parade them and trade them..

Talk about a mind-f*%k for the other team wondering if "that guy" ever gets tired or not being able to predict his tendencies...

We hated them for what they did with the lipsynching, but those songs - "girl, you know it's true"...

And that's what you get from small school talent, guy's that have had humble pie and are ready to be quality people in life...

Free Payton! :bng:

Welcome to the board.

You're right, this team is full of talented players from smaller schools and un-drafted status.

The scouts know talent, the coaches can coach talent and the coordinators know how to use talent.
