NFC South Strategic Tendencies: New Orleans Saints
The New Orleans Saints are coming off a very successful 2011 season, having finished 13-3 and in first place of the NFC South. During last season, the Saints finished 5-1 in the division, with the lone loss coming to the Buccaneers in Week 6 at Raymond James Stadium.
After a tumultuous offseason, the Saints will be without HC Sean Payton, their offensive play caller, as well as MLB Jonathan Vilma for the entire 2012 campaign. In addition, the Saints will also be ushering in new Defensive Coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, while OC Pete Carmichael will take over play calling. So while the Defensive Tendencies may change, the Saints Offense will likely retain much of the qualities it did last season. NFC South Strategic Tendencies: New Orleans Saints - Cat Scratch Reader |
Exactly! Blitz Brees so PT and Sproles can burn you on the screen... PLEASE!
"When it's all said and done, the Saints have an extremely potent Offense and a less than desirable Defense. Even with the suspensions, the Saints should be a playoff contender in 2012." We do not have to beat the bear.... just outrun the slowest guy. |
The first and most important strategy is securing the #1 seed heading into the playoffs.

I didn't finish it. I didn't know what the hell he was talking about half the time. What's a 21 grouping?

Falcons fans believe the division is theres at 10-11 wins.
If it is, it would be because Brees went down or some miracle happened. I think out of the division, the Falcons is going to regress a good bit based off the fact they want to copy the Saints as much as possible and it backfires on them when they try to do it. Under 10 wins is what I see from Atl. The other 2, Carolina and Tampa, thats a work in progress, depends on what they do this preseason, I am not counting one of them out from challenging the Saints for the division, I think though Atl is the odd team out from doing it this season. |

I think it backfires on them this year. Carolina and Tampa concern me more than the Falcons do. |

Turner is turning 30 and moving into an offensive scheme that is going to rely more on Matt Ryan now. That may be a recipe for disaster outside the fact I think that the Falcons defense is going to absolutely blow this season even under Mike Nolan. |

#1 Tampa Bay added some talent on Offense I know, not sure what they did with the Defense, still got Freeman back there who may be out of a starting job by Week 6. #2 Carolina has had a decent offense last season under Cam Newton, what raises the question here is, will Newton have the 2nd year slump like so many QBs have had? He blew goats in the Pro Bowl which might be a sign of things to come. #3 Atlanta is changing their offense around to be more pass heavy, which if you see Matt Ryan, may not be a good idea. I also believe the Falcons defense will be worse. They have all 3 added Talent (I dunno about Atl, they didnt add anything much did they except a CB?) The only problem with the talent these teams have added though is not key pieces. However if their is 1 team I would keep a strict eye on this season in terms of who is challenging the Saints, its going to be Tampa Bay. |
Atlanta did it wrong! Instead of drafting a WR at a stiff price first, they should have rebuilt their O-Line first...
That line is built to run behind not pass... My strategy would be to start with the line on both sides of the ball, if I was a coach... |
