Seven Saints who raised eyebrows Sunday

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Article here. Ingram's vision was the first thing I noticed about him. It was only 4 carries, but he did not look like that tentative runner we saw last season. Scary....

Why? I think he's a great punter.

I thought that Marcel Jones looked pretty good as the 2nd string RT and most of the pressure was coming from the left side, which was - surprise surprise - manned by Charles Brown. The right side of the O-line with Topou and Jones looked alright for the 2nd string, and Tennant wasn't bad either as the 2nd string center.

Still, he's "only" a punter...

Last year's man crush was Tom Johnson. This year I can see it's Marcel Jones.

Don't get me wrong, Tom is still my sweetheart, but I guess I'm hoping that Jones will work out for the sake of the O-line's continuity going forward.

And speaking of Tom, he was in on that one sack with Martez, and he did look quite mobile with the limited reps he had, so I'm hoping and praying that he stays injury free this preseason and can fight for a starting job at DT.

I'm envisioning the trio of Bunkley, Johnson and Hicks providing a mobile corps of DTs for the Saints in the coming years - I'm still not convinced by Ellis 4.0 - and those guys will be key for Spags front 4 schemes' success.

Exactly right

On his first down run I expected him to run right into oncoming defenders, but he made a split second decision which was impressive and his move after the cutback was encouraging

I think he will have a good year

While you can't draw too many conclusions from this game, the one I keep getting from it is how nothing looked bad. I only watched the 1st half and listened to the 2nd, I had to get back on the road, but I feel good about our team.

Again, this is only one game on about a week of practice....

One thing that did concern me was the second string offensive line. There seemed to be no continuity. They were getting pushed around and beat on most plays. Chase had to do a lot of scrambling and after the starters left, no running back could get anything going.

But again, that was on a weeks practice.

Cadet raised my eyebrows. It was difficult to tell him from Ivory, both have dreads, but Ivory has longer dreads. Cadet has a strong running style.
