Jonathan Vilma, NFL will not reach a settlement before hearing

1 Attachment(s)
The sides were involved in court-ordered settlement talks before a hearing Friday in New Orleans regarding Vilma's request for a temporary restraining order that would allow him to return to work until all legal proceedings were complete.

Vilma has filed a defamation lawsuit against NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell as well as a motion to have his suspension overturned.

There is the chance the court could rule on the injunction and whether the courts would accept the defamation case.

The league never formally offered Vilma a reduction in his suspension in an effort to end this portion of the bounty scandal, the NFL and another source familiar with the settlement talks said.

Vilma has nothing to lose. At the very least, the Saints and the world will learn who the snitch is.

If this gets more wind the NFL will use the same tactic they did with the Pats; destroy everything. The 50K pages involving other teams will be gone and as for the snitch, highly improbable anyone comes forward. If NFL can't protect themselves how can they protect anyone else.

I seriously don't think the NFL had any evidence. Seems like a lot of this was smoke and mirrors.

Don't think the NFL liked the idea of this going to trial or the court accepting it. Now the discovery process will begin and they will have zero to show. That's why they were pushing for a settlement.

Backfiring on them....

No surprise there... I hope we get a ruling tomorrow, and naturally that it is in favor of Vilma.

If the hearing falls in favor of Vilma, that's just the beginning.
2 separate issues:

1) will the court accept the case or dismiss it because it cannot be proven
2) if the court accepts the case, will they give Vilma an injunction

It's possible the court will accept the case and NOT award Vilma the injunction so he can play.

But YES, I'm praying they accept the case and Vilma gets the injunction because the world needs to see the truth one way or another.

TIME TO SHOW THE EVIDENCE ROGER!

If they destroy everything it will only help Vilma. Then the NFL has zero chance of winning a legal battle as it is.

I think the primary reason Roger wants to stay out of court is because once there he's going to have to put his source on the stand, and I'm betting he is well aware of the fact that his source, when cross-examined, is going to either crack under pressure or be exposed as a man with an agenda.
