Not to be pro-Goodell here, but it really hurts the leagues stance in these negotiations if coaches and players start complaining about the poor quality of reffing in the preseason. That gives the striking refs a serious leg up.

I personally want these negotiations to be over with before the regular season, and I don't think Goodell will cave as easily as the refs will. The NFL will go on regardless, but will the striking refs work? The easier these negotiations go for the NFL, the better.
