When he took over the dolphins, they weren't even a top 20 unit. He turned them into a top 10 unit within a year.

That's because you didn't watch the game.

yeah but your defense was already ok. Your missing the point. Nolan is not stoping the NO offense, and with sprags now Ryan has to deal with pass rush.
Like the giants,,, remember how that turned out?
Ryans a pure timed pocket passer, we have been saying this for years. Knock him off his mark and he losses it.

Well the one thing I see from Matt Ryan is I like to compare him to Tony Romo quite alot, they both got a tendency to just not make the right decisions when they pass the ball.

Romos is a little different because its further down field, Ryan though is more of the short passer.

Time after time, Ryan forces the ball to 1 player too much. Usually if it wasnt for Tony G, things would be alot worse. Romo does this just as much if not more. I think it comes down to Ryan not reading defenses and unloading the ball to a WR/TE that he should of not beee trying to get the ball to.

Mike Nolan Record, Statistics, and Category Ranks - Pro-Football-Reference.com

Over his career Nolan usually has left a defense worse off than when he found it.

The Giants were worse
The Redskins were worse
The Jets, he only had one season but they had no noticeable improvement
The Ravens he improved from 19th to 6th in points allowed but as a coincidence, that's when Ed Reed joined the team and the year before Ray Lewis was out on a murder trial.
The 49ers were bad when he got there and they were bad when he left.
The Broncos got better the year he was there and then continued to get even better after he left.
And Miami's defense did improve last year from the year before.

I can live with that. Thats a good opinion. If you watch the leader boards both QB's are up and down the charts.

Ive more seen Romo as a gunslinger. More of the Farve type, but I understand where you are going with this.
They both follow mental patterns when they panicked. Like farve in 2009.
Your are right Ryan always tries to hit Tony when he looses it. Problem is, TG is good and made him look good, and
I can remember when we could not cover him, but now we can.

We know Ryan is a timed pocket passer. Granted if the right team was around him, he could win. But Ryan is not someone that can pull this off on his own like a Brady or PM, or even Rivers. He just doesnt have that ability.
He cant do it without a team, like Smith, only Ryan is way better than Smith.
Im not seeing the team he needs in Atlanta, are you?

for 1 Ryan needs a better OL than we have to succeed. A defense at top 5. A run game at top 5, and White not being the leader in drops in the NFL. Its just common sense. If Ryan is not "Comfortable" he can't do it.

I looked at the same stats. I have no idea why Falcon fans think Nolan is a game changer or Dirk Koetter as OC. He was OC of the Jags. Give me a break, and calls Ryan a top 10 QB. Im sure hes never worked with a top 5 QB in his life.

Have to admit their hopefulness is cute.
