How is that? In Nickel you still have your MLB on the field...

No, in the nickel formation a extra DB is brought in and the only LBs that are on the field are OLBs, look it up if you have to!

Different packages, in Mike Nolans we have only OLBs like this!

According to your coach, MLB and linebackers play a substantial role. A "base" linebacker plays 45% of snaps.

“He is a core special teams player,” Mike Smith said. “He’s our base linebacker. He’s going to have to play some special teams throughout the season. When you are a base player you play about 45 percent of the snaps.”
