New Orleans Saints get aerial reminder of Sean Payton
1 Attachment(s)
Other than that terrifying banner hanging inside their practice bubble (DO YOUR JOB!), Sean Payton exists mostly as a memory for the New Orleans Saints these days.
The coach will be back, though it's unlikely to happen until 2013. The Saints have marched on, but they were reminded of their exiled leader during practice on Wednesday, when a plane flew over the field pulling a banner that read, "FREE PAYTON." "It's creative," Drew Brees said, via The Associated Press. "I want to know who did it." Ever the populist, Brees indicated he'd be comfortable helping sponsor more public protest messages "if it's a legal and funny thing like that." This guy's going to be president one day. Re: New Orleans Saints get aerial reminder of Sean Payton
Saints fans really are the best fans in the NFL. If I were a player, NOLA would be a destination site for sure. Of course, Drew Brees being here wouldn't hurt much either.

Re: New Orleans Saints get aerial reminder of Sean Payton
Ok so....
How about instead of flying one over the practice field, we all chip in and fly one over 280 Park Avenue New York NY 10017. |

Me, too. Seriously! Not a lot, but I would.

Re: New Orleans Saints get aerial reminder of Sean Payton
I heard something about a big poster or picture of Payton above the locker room that says "Do your job!" I think as a team this is being handled very well.

Re: New Orleans Saints get aerial reminder of Sean Payton
This is the website of the organization that is responsible for this:
Free Sean Payton - Join the Air Campaign Starting August 15'th we will be initiating our indefinite air campaign in support of Sean Payton and the New Orleans Saints who have been wrongfully persecuted by the National Football League. We demand that the suspension of Sean Payton be immediately reversed and the sanctions against the Saints organization be dropped. I read yesterday that there are discussions of a flyover for 280 Park Avenue New York NY 10017 |

Nice of the NFL to refer to the Sean Payton banner as "terrifying" in their article - not one other article has stated anything like this.
I hate them. |
Re: New Orleans Saints get aerial reminder of Sean Payton
I rather pay the building across the street to hang a banner or maybe leave the lights in certain rooms so it spells it out.

Re: New Orleans Saints get aerial reminder of Sean Payton
I just can't stop grinning and laughing at the word "terrifying" to describe the banner of Payton, in that NFL.com article. "Terrifying?" O Rly?
SEAN PAYTON IS NOW LIVING RENT-FREE INSIDE THE NFL'S HEAD! They are "terrified" of him! Somebody really needs to find the original scowling picture of Payton without the "Do Your Job" text, so we can start making a meme out of it. |
Re: New Orleans Saints get aerial reminder of Sean Payton
Brees stated he may assist if "things were legal and in good taste".
I really think Sean Payton paper masks with a elastic string for a "give away" to people entering the Dome for the Season Opener would send a pretty strong message...EVERYWHERE in the dome. Would have to see about a sponsor, donations, production, and legalalities of handing out something like that OUTSIDE the dome, but could be something Champion Square could get away with. The crowd shots of the game sure would be interesting - not one shot without the possibility of a fan wearing a Sean Payton mask. The best thing about something like this would be to keep it on the front page and in everyone's mind. You know there will be Free Payton & Free Vilma shirts, signs, and who knows what else. Saints fans have a history of wearing "masks", so it would be a pretty "sticky" issue for the league to stop. They could approach it as a security issue, but with the type of mask it could be more bad press than anythng else - especially with the "Who Dat" and other suits brought by the league previously. UPDATE: Fleurty Girl the target of the NFL "Who Dat" suit is preparing to give away 5000 Sean Payton masks outside the Saints vs. Washington game. |

Damn!
It's astonishing to know that trivial life circumstances can drive someone to do such things... |

That's just sad and awful. My prayers to the family and all of those who are affected by this tragedy.
