Devery Henderson

This is a question for the people that have been at practices and stuff. ... and let me preface this by saying that I've always been a fan of Devery, all the way back to his days at LSU,,, but,,, does he look a little heavy this year? While I was watching the game the other night it just looked like he's gained a little weight and lost a little speed. Maybe just my imagination.

He's 30 and apparently the longest tenured player on the team (I can't believe it's been that long.) I didn't notice him looking heavier so far.

What impressed me last night was AGAIN Devery delivered on his route, was in the right place at the right time, and he scored. I believe he is one of the most under appreciated player on the team. He constantly shows up at the open receiver with extra coverage on the main starters.

Sounds like he got off to a slow start at camp, and started to pick up the pace lately.

Short answer - haven't noticed

Thanks. I haven't seen them in person yet so I don't know. It was just something everyone I was watching the game with commented on. It might have just been that he's wearing a little extra armor to protect his ribs. I'll see for myself at the redskins game.

He could have beefed up too. Slimmer WR's start building muscle in their mid to upper NFL years.

Devery's always been muscular. He was a running back at LSU before being converted to a wide receiver as a junior.

On a side note anyone notice how skinny Brees looks?

Having three small children at home can probably do that to you. ;)

Re: Devery Henderson

Maybe he thought he needed a little more muscle mass to help with going up against bigger corners/safeties...

That's Graham's and Colstons's job. Devery has always been our spread-the-field-with-your-speed receiver.

Everybody has to block at some point, we do run a lot of screens

Maybe, but the men wide receivers block are safeties and corners. They're not big, they're quick.

Henderson is listed at 200 lbs. and Quddus for example is listed 220 lbs., so yeah a little muscle would not hurt Devery

Anyway, this entire thread is based on what it looked like on TV. It might have just been camera angles. I'll see them all for real in a couple of weeks.

Yes. I said that I haven't seen the team in person yet at the beginning. What the heck? It's late at night and not taking up all that much bandwidth.

Re: Devery Henderson

There's a reason he's our longest tenured player here

Look at devery Henderson 2006 - dropped balls ALL THE TIME

Look at devery since 2008, the guy has put in serious work on his hands and it became apparent early on, he's got some of the most reliable hands now and I never thought I'd be saying that

Devery Henderson has grown tremendously from that guy who dropped everything thrown his way years ago. He has been over shadowed by Meachem and now it's his time to be the man.

On a related note, does anyone remember the Bluegrass Miracle? (rhetorical question) :) :) :)
