New Orleans Saints get good news on injuries to wide receiver Tanner; safety Quddus
After the devastating news that linebacker Chris Chamberlain would be lost for the season due to an ACL injury in his left knee, some positive news came for the New Orleans Saints on injuries to wide receiver Andy Tanner and safety Isa Abdul-Quddus.
Interim head coach Joe Vitt said that Tanner after being carted off the sideline last night, merely has a sprained ankle. Tanner was blocking for running back Travaris Cadet on a play when Cadet slammed into the back of Tanner. Quddus suffered what Vitt described as a”ding” last night not long after making a nice interception earlier on a tipped pass by cornerback Elbert Mack. He left the game and did not return. Vitt said per league rules, Quddus went through the usual concussion tests but said he’s fine. Vitt further called the loss of Chamberlain “big” to the team since he was familiar with defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo’s scheme and was very versatile being able to play all three linebacking positions at strongside, middle, and weakside. While Vitt wouldn’t really say who is a prime candidate to fill Chamberlain’s spot, he did cite linebacker Ramon Humber’s ability to versatile like Chamberlain as well. Humber signed with the Saints in 2010 after previously playing for the Indianapolis Colts. Although not well known on the roster, he had 21 tackles and a sack for the team last year. whodatdish |

That is good for the boys. Nope they can get back on the field and show their stuff

Wonder how long it will be before Tanner can get back. I think this injury might have been a make or break type of thing as far as him making the final cut.

I'm worried now that it's only a sprain, we can't IR him. Being able to IR him would have made a decision on a WR a little easier and we could have had him for next year.

Roby and Morgan contribute on special teams, Tanner does not. Tanner would simply be a newer version of AA. Unless one of the top 3 get hurt, he'll never see the field (this year). |

I think Tanner IS gonna see the field as the Saints look to push Moore to be a better player or replace his production with a friendlier cap number...

Good News. Saints look to push Moore to be a better player. Really I think he the best hands on the team. I want more Lance Moore.

Moore sniffs out the first down marker than most wide receivers. He's got great hands and I love his style. l think that we just resigned him to a long term contract recently.

Moore doesn't need pushing...Arrington needs the push.
The decision is between Arrington and Tanner, probably who's hurt less. We will keep the special teamers. At least they contribute while waiting for a chance to play in the every down rotation. |
