Will miss rest of preseason. Vitt says he thinks he will be ready for season. Per WWL.
Jesus wasnt Goodells new preseason rules supposed to decrease injuries? I havnt noticed a change league wide. My hopes for the season are starting to wain every day

"It's speculation now that they will be out for the first game," Vitt said. "We certainly think Curtis will be ready for the first game. The diagnosis for David has been encouraging. He hurt it early in the (Jaguars) game, and he played on it. He's got a chance to be back for that game."

High ankle sprain can be a terrible injury. Luckily modern sports medicine practitioners have ways of helping them heal without the long, long, long healing times.

When I read up on the healing time it said from 3 days to 6 months... I wanted to thank the author for his insight.

surgery to fix torn meniscus is not really a big deal... He'll be ready to play week 1 or 2 at the latest...

Vitt suggested that the new turf at the Superdome might have played a role in mowing down his linebackers. The coach said he regretted not having a practice on that field before the game against the Jags.

i blame this on goodell too. his new no hitting in practice and shortening up camp has made these guys not ready to make contact with other teams. i think im switching to baseball and quitting watching football until something changes

Those examples don't really apply in this case. Roethlisberger is not a running quarterback, for one, but he played horribly with that injury last year. Gronkowski obviously has to run, but as I remember, he was a complete non factor in the Superbowl and the Patriots lost.

So this isn't something to take lightly. If they manage him right he'll be ok, so it's not panic time, but it is legitimate cause for concern.

Saints LB Curtis Lofton (high ankle sprain) insists he could play this week if it was a regular season game.

"I'm feeling good," Lofton said. "Just doing what I'm told. Just taking care of it. It's still preseason so it's still early. But once Week 1 rolls around, I'll be ready to go." Lofton said he played through a similar injury in the final three games of last season.

This really is great news.
He needs to sit it out because it's a slow developing injury, meaning it could be stiffer and worse by friday... but I'm sure the Saints staff have worked with it.
