His technique probably is, but I can't imagine he has Shanle's closing speed.

I doubt this is considered a long term solution, but probably plugs a hole for now and maybe a backup who provides some ST help

I doubt he will play ST's, but he can start in the immediate future and will be great depth...

I'll take "Blatently Obvious Statements" for 200 Alex! :p

Somebody made the effort to go out and get the guy. We could have picked some scrub from the trash heap but the people who brought us Junior Gallette, Chris Ivory and Isa Quduus saw fit to trade for him so I'm good with it.

Excellent point, and let me add...

Pierre Thomas, Jo-Lonn Dunbar, De La Puente, Lance Moore, Vilma (who many thought was over), Dave Thomas, Scott Shanle (OK bad example), Casillas, Hartley, Cadet and even Darren Sharper.

All were met with skepticism and poo-pooed by many and all turned out to be solid moves.

The more I hear about this guy the more I think he has a huge upside. Even the Falcons fan at work told me he was legit. We might have found a good vet on the cusp or resurecting his career.

P.S. Im gonna laugh my ass off if Shanle beasts out this year and has a monster season.

Why waste a draft pick on a injury prone vet.Surely there would be free agents out there that could do the same job.

Define "injury prone".
According to NFL.com, from 2005 to 2010, Rudd missed only one game in 2007. Last year, he played 9 games with the Titans, but was placed on IR after wk 14. He played last Saturday against Denver.

So other than a player that likes to eat jocks, can't we pick up some stragglers from the Giants or Ravens or some other team with good LB depth?

I would guess that they looked at what was available from all 32 teams.

There's always a chance that one of those teams might cut someone worth picking up after preseason though.

As for Ruud playing special teams, it may well happen -- somebody who has access to it (not me) needs to take another look at that RIDONKULOUS onside kick that Jacksonville ran against us. I'm not saying he's to blame, but I feel like Humber was on the field right in the front of the kick formation when that particular piece of ridiculousness happened.
