Newly cut McCown signs with Falcoons
The Atlanta Falcons have a new backup for Matt Ryan.
Chris Redman, who spent the last four seasons as Atlanta's No. 2 quarterback, was released Tuesday so the team could sign Luke McCown. McCown spent the past three seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars, making two starts among his eight appearances. He worked with Dirk Koetter, who is now the Falcons' offensive coordinator, which undoubtedly contributed to the decision to bring in someone new to back up Ryan. Originally a fourth-round pick by Cleveland in 2004, McCown also played with Tampa Bay. He signed with New Orleans before the start of training camp this year, but was cut by the Saints on Monday. One day later, he had a new team. Falcons cut Redman, bring in McCown as No. 2 QB - Yahoo! Sports |

Definitely a playbook move; the guy sucks

Re: Newly cut McCown signs with Falcoons
They're basically trying to rent our play book.

Re: Newly cut McCown signs with Falcoons
Yeah, it never works. Rugby Saint II you ok down there.

Re: Newly cut McCown signs with Falcoons
I thought Redman was a decent back up. Replacing him with McCown is a big downgrade. Redman came in and almost beat us once, he has some skills and talent, while McCown is little more than a camp body.

Re: Newly cut McCown signs with Falcoons
Yeah, pathetic play-book copping. He sucks, so he'll fit right in ... and then they'll cut him when they're done picking what little information he managed to retain.

Re: Newly cut McCown signs with Falcoons
Even if it was for the playbook insights, "mcClown" was hardly the master of our system, the falcons already know what we do on offense and have failed to stop us for 3 years now, not gonna make a difference
