KELLEN WINSLOW AVAILABLE AFTER BEING CUT
NOLA.com
Saints should definitely bring the guy in for a workout and a chat. Graham and a healthy Winslow would give the Saints that New England double TE package. Winslow also brings alot of veteran leadership and fierce attitude to the game. Only downside so far is the word on his release is due to a refusal to take a paycut after being outshined by 2 other TE's so he was cut. KELLEN WINSLOW AVAILABLE AFTER BEING CUT. | NOLA.com ----------------------------------------------------------------------- NFL.com The Seattle Seahawks have released veteran tight end Kellen Winslow, the team announced Saturday. NFL Network and NFL.com's Albert Breer first reported the transaction, citing a source with knowledge of the situation. Danny O'Neil of The Seattle Times reported Winslow might have refused a paycut, but the Seahawks couldn't have been thrilled with his limited production. Winslow's three catches for 34 yards in the preseason were a far cry from the player of years past. Winslow was part of a wave of veteran pass catchers brought in during the offseason by coach Pete Carroll. The seven-year veteran was listed along with Zach Miller and Anthony McCoy on the team's 53-man roster, but Winslow failed to outshine those two. McCoy, especially, showed chemistry with rookie starting quarterback Russell Wilson late in the preseason. Seattle shipped a conditional 2013 seventh-round draft pick in May to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the rights to Winslow, who failed to win over new Bucs coach Greg Schiano this offseason after three productive years with the team. Winslow's time with the Buccaneers included 218 receptions for 2,377 yards and 12 touchdowns. Those numbers are close to what Winslow did in four seasons with the Cleveland Browns, where he hauled in 219 passes for 2,459 yards and 11 scores. There were moments in Cleveland when Winslow's fierce athleticism alone helped the Browns create matchup problems for defenses, but he's not that player today. Multiple operations to Winslow's battle-worn knees raise questions about his future in the NFL. We wouldn't be surprised to see another club -- thin at tight end -- take a chance on Winslow, but Seattle has seen enough. Kellen Winslow released by Seattle Seahawks - NFL.com |
Re: KELLEN WINSLOW AVAILABLE AFTER BEING CUT
Jimmy Grahm IS what Winslow was "supposed" to be. I'd prefer Shockey over Winslow.

Re: KELLEN WINSLOW AVAILABLE AFTER BEING CUT
I'd rather bring Higgins (minus the porn stache) or that other dude back.

Re: KELLEN WINSLOW AVAILABLE AFTER BEING CUT
But we have the Graham Crackers now at TE.....!

Man, I looked at Winslow's player card and I can still remember him in college making that stupid comment on TV. Time certainly flies. :( |
Re: KELLEN WINSLOW AVAILABLE AFTER BEING CUT
NOOOOOOO!!! We couldn't afford the tissue for him! We need linebackers not crybabies. He belongs with the forty-whiners.

Re: KELLEN WINSLOW AVAILABLE AFTER BEING CUT
One thing I'm pretty sure winslow has never been accused of is being a leader. Everything I've ever heard about him suggests to me he's closer to a locker room cancer. I would say pass

Re: KELLEN WINSLOW AVAILABLE AFTER BEING CUT
He's a soldier! Just ask him!

Re: KELLEN WINSLOW AVAILABLE AFTER BEING CUT
Winslow's rookie season we had this real quiet guy (looks like the Comic Books Guy from BB Theory), his first season in a big money league and he was drafting and was getting hazed pretty good...
... everytime he went up to pull the sticker off the CBS Sportsline page and put it on the Draft Board, he's literally shaking every pick... Round Six he picks Winslow, CLE and some of the louder guys really started in, catcalling, rookie chants, asking him why he's drafting a second TE so early and the guy just screams back the Quote - 'cause he's a F**king Soldier - That's Why! You coulda heard a pin dropped for about ten seconds, seemed forever... I busted into an uncontrollable laugh my best friend, the commish, swears sounds like Burt Reynolds laugh - the draft stopped twenty minutes just for us to recoup... That's my best memory of Winslow and I don't think he's got any knees left to make a better one in a Saints uniform... |
Re: KELLEN WINSLOW AVAILABLE AFTER BEING CUT
Nope, dude is an underachiever and gives up on plays. I would rather bring back Higgins or get someone who is a pure blocker. We have the other Graham for that but another wouldn't hurt.

Re: KELLEN WINSLOW AVAILABLE AFTER BEING CUT
TightEnd is DEFINTELY the position you guys need to focus on right now.
|
Re: KELLEN WINSLOW AVAILABLE AFTER BEING CUT
Give me Higgins over Winslow.
|
Re: KELLEN WINSLOW AVAILABLE AFTER BEING CUT
DIVA, let him stay where he is.
|
Re: KELLEN WINSLOW AVAILABLE AFTER BEING CUT
Say no to crack!

David Thomas is a good blocker, so if he is truly over the concussion problems then I don't think they need another blocking TE. |
Re: KELLEN WINSLOW AVAILABLE AFTER BEING CUT
I'd get Winslow's dad, before I got Winslow. no thanks.

Re: KELLEN WINSLOW AVAILABLE AFTER BEING CUT
If we sign any veteran, released TE, it'll be Chris Cooley after Week 1...

Re: KELLEN WINSLOW AVAILABLE AFTER BEING CUT
A few notes on Winslow: Dude can play, there is no real question about that. For the most part he has put up very decent numbers for a TE over several years. He is still only 29, so in theory should have a few more good seasons left. Now, this is what concerns me, gets traded from a team that already was very thin on offense for a low round pick, then gets released from that team before the season begins.
Honestly, I would have to say pass on him. |
Re: KELLEN WINSLOW AVAILABLE AFTER BEING CUT
No. Move on
|
Re: KELLEN WINSLOW AVAILABLE AFTER BEING CUT
I was reading on a Seahawks forum and the fans there said he looked slow and had no vertical leap and assumed his knees are shot. They said he was easily covered by second string linebackers.

Re: KELLEN WINSLOW AVAILABLE AFTER BEING CUT
I say bring him in....he never had a QB like Brees throwing to him
|
Re: KELLEN WINSLOW AVAILABLE AFTER BEING CUT
He never really had an attitude. Injuries though, he's had major problems mainly brought on by himself dropping a bike. Probably not even worth looking at if he can't beat out what's on their roster.

Re: KELLEN WINSLOW AVAILABLE AFTER BEING CUT
The first vision that comes to my mind regarding him is his very poor on field attitude last year. Now I'll grant you that I wouldn't be excited about having freeman as my qb either, but to let it show in public, on tv, on gameday is not excusable to me

Re: KELLEN WINSLOW AVAILABLE AFTER BEING CUT
Higgins any day!
Dude is a beast in the making. ALWAYS gets YAC |
Re: KELLEN WINSLOW AVAILABLE AFTER BEING CUT
No he is a penis & would be poison in a locker room that will have enough problems
|
No thank you. Definitely not a chip off the old block.
