He is a good young players full of potential, far too much pressure is being placed on him though IMO.
He has handled everything well from what I have seen but when he makes mistakes and things don't go well it will be interesting how he reacts.
I wish him well.

As long as he isn't playing the Saints.

I agree, and his OL is not going to be doing him any favors. He will have hands in his face and pressure all day most of the time.

With RG3, containment is the key, like with Vick. Our offense will score enough, we just have too may weapons. Hopefully the team comes out and makes a statement to all the haters.

Oh I trust you. But I guess there was no way for you to read my mind. I do have realistic expectations for the young guy. Maybe in 3 or so years I can come back and we can have a convo about him and Brees ;)

the rookie stumbles on the echos of saints fans in his first start, just to much for him to gobble up. drew spreads it around in a funfilled victory.

On another note... this will be my first time in a dome as well. I actually really am curious just how loud it gets. Exciting stuff gentlemen! Either way it goes, I hope both the Saints and Skins stick it to the A-hole Goodell the rest of the year. 36M in cap penalty.... Countless suspensions and penalties... F the man!

After the off-season we had? Hold on, because it will be crazy loud.

Redskins SS Brandon Meriweather will be sidelined 2-4 weeks after spraining his MCL and PCL in Monday's practice.

Yea... Topic is blowing up right now on the Skins board. Apparently Gomes will be starting in his place. Enjoy the open lanes fellas. The over is all but certain on this game.

I think we Will be fine against the Redskins... Drew Brees will light up that Secondary with Merriweather out and losing Tanard Jackson I believe it will be smooth sailing for Drew Brees and the Offense ....

Yep, Jackson may be done in the NFL period. What a great addition that was, doesn't suit up once, and guy failed his third drug test......

Re: Week 1: Redskins-Saints matchup

Have they lost 2 of 3 Safeties, one a starter the other the backup, so that basically they are starting the 4rth guy on the depth chart?

I read this online at their paper and some of their fans are absolutely delusional- saying things like our front seven is going to destroy them. You don’t need a good secondary; you only need a good front seven. I am not sure how starting a safety 4rth on the depth chart can be considered not to have a effect. It may be able to be masked against most teams, but I am not sure their starters were going to stop us so I can’t imagine this improves the situation. Anyone know the talent of the Dejon Gomes?

BTW- I for one am actually glad Jackson is suspended. I think he probably would have been their best option at safety

And I just posted about this without having read the comments on the thread. Wondering the same

Very true. Another sad waste of talent. The guy is good, but...

A lot of whispers about this, but since the tragedy that happened to 21, we have not been able to find any continuity in the Defensive backfield.

I don't think anybody thinks that stopping the Saints is something you can do at the drop of a hat. What we are hoping for is that the pressure on the sides from Rak and Kerrigan can force Brees to make decisions quicker than he would like and possibly lead to a turnover or two. The front 7 honestly is the most talented for us in well over a decade, and very deep.

To be fair we had Mike Bell and Reggie Bush in the back field.
Defense recorded ZERO sacks.

Our secondary was decimated in that game. I think 3 of 4 starters were missing. I was there and we should have lost, but suisham missed the FG. The great thing was as they're readying for the kick all the fans around me are going- who dat who dat who dat going home sad today. You could have heard a pin drop when he missed. It was a gimme kick too. Drew drives us for the tie, OT we win it. It ws great.

Oh and the best was I was asked by one of their fans what I paid for the ticket and I told the guy 25 bucks, lmao! It was last minute and I was visiting my GF in NJ so I didn't even have any of my Saints stuff with me, unfortunately. I couldn't pass up 25.00 per ticket though

Good luck with that... Have you watched much tape on Brees?
He spends the off season working on his reaction time.

His read/process/deliver (quickest delivery) time is one of the fastest in the league.

People say that a lot, on the internet, but it's really not entirely true.

The only times that rookie or unknown "nobody" quarterbacks looked really good against the Gregg Williams Saints D, was when the QB on the field wasn't the same QB that the team prepared for during the week (Seattle playoffs, Titans game), or else when the QB was changed mid-season and there wasn't a lot of film on them (Arizona, Cleveland and the Rams all made a major QB change only a week or two before the game, for example).

When the QB on the field is who the Saints are expecting to be there, rookie quarterbacks tend to look okay but not great, if the Saints were prepared for them. Josh Freeman (38-7), Cam's first game against the Saints, and Matt Stafford in the '09 opener for example. Stafford played okay that day, he made some nice plays, but the game was still a total blowout. That's kind of what I see happening here on Sunday, I see this as being very similar to that Detroit opener in '09.
