Who knows what prompts anyones personal decisions. However, I was surprised at the least. I think he never wanted to really really play. Putting his depression and anxiety aside and his personality quirks and his love of the weed..........he had talent.

Ricky said that the failed drug test had a hand in making his decision. Kids this is why you don\'t do drugs. It clouds your judgement. Good luck in Asia ricky.

Ya know, as messed up as Ricky is, it really would not shock me to find out that this is a ploy to get out of Miami. I could see him coming back after a year or two. Does anyone know if there are rules against such a move? Just wondering.

Sorry didnt see your post so I did one too. I think it is the same as Barry Sanders. The lions owned his rights if he came back. I would assume that the dolphins will own his rights if he trys to come back. They would have to release him or trade his rights for him to come back and play again.

Well, if he\'s had enough that\'s fine, but he could have given his notice at a better time for the team. They paid a pretty high price for him and I think the org deserved at least enough notice to make a play for a FA RB this off season.

Good ridance, otherwise, especially if he\'s quitting over the positive test. But I don\'t want to hear him 20 years from now complaining because he\'s broke. He has plenty of money now to live more than decently the rest of his life. If he blows it on drugs and friends, that\'s just too bad.

Look for Ricky to show up in somebody\'s minor league baseball system in a year or two.

I can\'t really get on Ricky\'s case here. I think the whole Ditka trading the whole draft for him really screwed him up. I mean... that\'s a lot of pressure. Some people just can\'t hold up under extreme pressure. If his heart isn\'t in it, why not stop playing if you can afford to do so. He wants to spend time with his kids and travel the world, so do I. I just don\'t have the financial ability to do so. If I won the lottery, I gaurantee I would go on a world vacation before I did anything else. (got 4 numbers in last weeks lotto, and was only 1 number away from the other two)

Didn\'t Ricky get drafted by somebody in MLB out of college? You might be right about this.

Thank God Deuce fell. If NFL scouts had been Ole Miss fans we\'d have never even sniffed him. All of his durability questions were hilarious to those of us in the know, because even though he was banged up he never quit, and made outstanding plays.
Amen to that.

Didn\'t Dion Sanders do something like that a couple years ago? Seems like I remember he screwed some team somehow.

I don\'t think Ricky could come back unless the Dplphins released the rights to him - see Barry Sanders.

Randy Mueller wrote an article on ESPN.com about this. He said that his unpredictable thinking was what led him to be traded to Miami.
(I didn\'t read the whole article. You have to pay to read the whole thing... )

How different would our team be if we would have never drafted Ricky. Would Ditka still be coach? Would we have drafted Deuce? Would Ricky be hitting the bong in Beijing?

Here\'s a list of notable players that were drafted after Ricky:Torry Holt, Champ Bailey, David Boston, Chris Claiborne,Chris McAlister, Daunte Culpepper, Booger McFarland, Jevon Kearse,Antoine Winfield, and many more in later rounds including Aaron Brooks.

Bottom line is trading away a whole draft for one unproven player is bad for both parties involved the player and the team.
