Sure, but as far as I know, the player should be aware of the coverage scheme before the ball is snapped, so he should know whether or not he will have safety help over the top. Of course, knowing that a safety is supposed to be there to help doesn't mean that he in fact will be there, but it doesn't change the overall point nor did that appear to be the case with the play in question. |
