Here's what I don't understand
 

All the Saints coaches are saying that the reason the defense is struggling is because we faced two quarterbacks that can run the the zone read offense

But we got repeatedly torched by Steve smith on a normal pass plays, no option or zone read involved, no one wanted to cover smith

They are making excuses saying that the Zone read is beating us, but we can't even stop a normal pocket passing offense and if the chiefs put up 30 points or more there is serious cause for concern

I'm still "trying" to stay optimistic that our defensive scheme will kick in, but if we continue to get gashed then we can say hello to a top 10 pick in the draft

I am of the opinion the scheme is too hard for them which is why they are struggling.

This is why they seem to completely blow coverage 2-3 times a game already.

But the idea of Zone coverage is to make plays develop over time, allowing the front 4 to apply pressure.

The problem with that is, the Front 4 is chasing a damn chicken with its head cut off when they faced RGIII and Newton.

Seems the Run Option is a direct counter to the Zone Coverage scheme, seems Screen passes are as well unless this is more blown coverage.

Scheme vs talent level? Scheme worked with the Giants when it kicked in.

My grandpa is 86 years old. Given the lack of pressure we generate, he could throw for 250. No. Running QBs aren't the problem. It's coach spin because at this point they're covering their asses.

I don't buy this at all. No pressure and playing 5 miles off the receiver isn't going to work with more traditional qbs either.

I implore other teams to try this approach with Drew please.

I'm mulling a comeback, myself, and I havent played since high school in the 80s. Im pretty sure I could torch our defense.

About time they cover something, they certainly aren't covering Wide Receivers!!!!
