Coaching is garbage
 

It is really starting to show that we are playing with the 3rd string coach now. We make 0 adjustments at any point in the game. Why arent we using the TE to at least chip the defensive ends to slow them down? Payton did this all the time. I dont understand how our coaches dont know to make simple adjustments. Was payton the only one with any sense??? Its such a bad feeling watching this team play right now. Brees will be injured this year...no doubt. I dont think he has ever gotten his @$$ kicked this bad in his career. Kromer has sealed his fate as a lifetime position coach. Whats ironic is that his unit it one of the worst on the team. Whats sad is we are losing valuable years with our best players. Losing a year when they are in their prime really blows. We had a team that 99% of nfl players wanted to be on. I really think that is going to change if we dont turn it around. Then we are going back to being a mediocre team when we were on pace to become a dynasty.

I want a defense that can be dominant and not just for one year

I'm still going to watch every game, every week

It may sound bad, but instead of getting frustrated like I normally would I've accepted a couple of things;

If we struggle this year and I really hope we don't, we get a good pick in the draft
I really hope our defense scheme kicks in and we go on a tear, but after getting very frustrated in years past I've kinda thought there's not much we can do and it's healthy to vent your anger on here where people will listen

I'm in no way hoping we struggle and I hope we go on a win streak like last year, try to think positives, we have something to build upon and our defense can't get any worse

If defense doesnt work, get rid of spags and get someone that can turn our defense into something that remotely challenges opponents

I'm not ready to throw spags under just yet. We just do not have play makers. It is what it is.
The New Orleans Saints have given up 922 total yards in the first two games.
I pulled this up only because I thought it's kind of funny New Orleans Saints preaching patience after 0-2 start | wwltv.com New Orleans

Coaching may well be garbage. But the one point people overlook is execution. If the players execute 50% more and we're 1-1 or 2-0 and nobody would even mention the coaching.

Dropped passes, throwing easy INTs, false start penalties, etc. those things are on the players, not the playcalling.

I also have a hard time digesting that because Payton isn't here, we're sloppy. Rooks, maybe. Veterans? I doubt it. Most of our guys have been here before.

Now, I'm not saying we don't miss Payton. But I'm saying there's blame from top to bottom that goes beyond coaching.

And I wouldn't get too excited about a high draft pick. If I remember right, we lost one this coming year too, thanks to our bud, Roger.

For a dynasty, we would need 2 more rings before 2018.

This is quite possible in the drew Brees era.

Drew Brees still has 3-4 years left in his prime.

When we get SP back next year, we should be HUGE favorites to win it.

Plus I'm still not giving my judgement until we get Vitt back.

I realize Kromer sucks.

But what's interesting is our best days with the defense back in the preseason during the cardinals and pats game? Guess who was coaching? Vitt. Then as soon as we get kromer the defense stinks it up in the texans game and needs the O to carry them.

The point is this defense won't suck when Vitt comes back.

Certainly won't suck AS BAD, when Vitt comes back. Not saying we rip off 15 in a row and go 17-2, but seriously, it will get better. People need to understand this is not just another normal day at the office for the team.

I'm going to assume none of the flamers here have ever been an NFL coach so, please, correct me if I am wrong.

This team has played poorly yet has had the ball with enough time to tie/win both games.

It's not over.

I don't necessarily agree that it's all Spags fault. This D has been bad for years. We haven't had a decent D-Line since Haslett not to mention an LB corps or CB's or Safties. We are only slightly better now than we were then. Letting Porter go for Robinson was a huge mistake. Letting Nicks go, another mistake, keeping Bushrod another mistake, keeping Harper another, we've got just as many holes to fill on D now as we did 6 years ago. I don't think Spags has the talent he needs to fix this defense and won't for at least 3 years so if he wants another shot at an HC job, he'd better get on with it.

Our defensive personnel is terrible. Our first round, high dollar guys should be let go. Ellis...what has he ever done. Jenkins... Please, he makes me sick. Patrick Robinson...what a joke, he was projected as a third rounder. Cam Jordan...the run stopping end in a passing league, he might have been good 15 years ago. No team with this many first rounders on one sideof the ball should be this bad.

I agree, for the most part, except for the 'get rid of Spags' part ... when you're faced with a situation like this, you have to allow for things to return to normal, ie Payton returns, and then a certain amount of time to see exactly what the team does before making player/coach changes.

For now, it is what it is ... it sucks having your team hamstrung by forces other then those on the field and it makes me dislike Goodell all the more with every passing week and every game I watch.

There is a special place in hell for politicians and Commissioners. :flame:

This defense is loaded with talent. Sure they're not playing like it so far, but that's no reason to start hanging pink slips!

Right now (and for the first month) this new scheme is making the players think more than act/react.

It will come.

Correction, we are loaded with a bunch of first round underachievers. Ellis, Jenkins,Robinson, are all not playing as 1st rounders. Smith has never been consistent.
I will use Ellis for this, this is a contract year for him? The way he has played so far and in the past. Do you think he is going to sign a health contract with another team. Because it wont be with us.
. Cameron it's early on him but I do like what I see.
So if I am missing something on our 1st round picks, that as a group is not what i would call loaded talent.

I will somewhat correct you. They were talented... in college. These guys came from high profile schools that got a ton of media attention and they played no one. Their draft stock shot through the roof and now here we are with a bunch of wet farts that can't tackle or do anything else first round defensive guys are supposed to do. Some of them have played for multiple coordinators and they have NEVER really produced. scheme you can teach but the intangibles is what these guys don't have. Our scouts appear great but this coaching change has exposed the fact that most of our offense is a system. Payton's system made people great with Brees. On the defensive side of the ball these guys are justbflat out not good. Thank god for duck hunting. It will get me through this season cause kromer will not.

It's amazing to me how much of it is "head games". You would think a team as talented as the Saints could work on "auto pilot".

Sad thing is at this point by the time our defense is dominant our offense won't be.
