I agree.
--you put the pressure on yourself by demanding astronomical money
--you screwed the O, by not showing up to practice.
--you jacked up player salaries for the future, thereby jeopardizing the
long term ability of real fans to afford tickets.
--For 100 million dollars you need to score every time you touch the ball.

Im actually a big fan, and even an apologist, but I want everyone else
in the football world, outside of us homers, to like Drew as much as we do.
And he's making it difficult for us to sell.

Because Brees and the Saints aren't winning! If the Saints were 2-0 and had scored 56 points each game, and the defense was holding teams to 10 points, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

It's absurd to blame it all on any one guy, but I'd certainly like to see a little better outta Drew than the Carolina game. Don't get me wrong, I love to see a bit of "gunslinger" in my QB, but not when it degenerates into desperate sloppiness. The O-line didn't protect well, targets had the dropsies, therefore Drew didn't get going either.

Very true, but thats not the way its gone down

we are 0-2 and have allowed 75 points, while the offense has been underwhelming, nothing like we are used to

We gotta point to something, and drew with his holdout and his "team friendly deal" as he calls it, is the most likely cause

Wow, this is the best flaming yall can do? I LOVE this board. I was expecting
hate mail, but then I remembered, this isnt Site-X. Even those who disagree
with me, I appreciate your coolness. Im not 100% in love with my own thoughts on this matter anyway, much less married to them.

I really do love Drew Brees as a person & a QB, but I think he's made some bad
personal judgements here, and has flaws just like the rest of us.

Let me add a little to my devils advocacy. (you'll like this)
If Drew doesnt want so damn much money, and accepts the Saints offer back then-- whatever it was....
Then we franchise Carl Nicks, and he gets over it, and plays like Carl Nicks.
Then in the Redskins game, we dont have Grubbs shoe-tying timeout.
Then we have an extra timeout.
Then we have time to get closer to the endzone, where you can make a reasonable play.
And we win the game, not to mention, Drew stays upright more.

Part of Drew's job is to coach...come on now and Carl Nicks doesnt look the same in Tampa...and How does Brees Deal from 3 months ago have to do with our record or how we are playing "NOTHING" ITS Incosistent play on both sides of the ball...and he missed ota's If your not with us when we lose dont bother being with us when we WIN "PBP!"

fyi, a little background on me:
I've been a fan just under 30 years. Sat thru a whole lot of losing. Drive
5 hours to attend all the home games... and I'll be there for the games
all the way up to the Panthers game whether we're 12-3 or 0-15. I b****, but I buy tickets, and I stay till the end. just fyi.

I am glad he is taking the blame. I bet he realizes he is not worth 100mil. Hell from what I have seen out of him thus far without Payton he is just an avg QB. With Payton he is great. Oh well, next year we will get Payton back and maybe a new D coordinator with some new talent to work with.

The O just needs Payton back, the D needs to be completely rebuilt.

Drew is a Leader so he rightfully steps up and takes the blame. If he wanted, he could act like Cutler and blame everyone else. Yes, I think he was greedy in negotiating his salary, so he needs to step up and prove that he can still bring us another SB. But without Payton, Brees will struggle, along with the rest of the team and coaching staff.
