Re: (OFFICIAL VENTING THREAD) Smoke 'em if you got 'em

I love the Saints and always will....but I am at the end of rope today! Our Defence is completely worthless, and the Offence isn't far behind. This team is completely lost in all areas. I believe things would be different if our Coach was back, but that's the hand Goodell has dealt us. We have a team that is floundering and the leaders on the field are struggling. After watching the game today I am resigned to the fact that it will be a loooong season. I will still root for the boys each week, but the hope of any magic happening is gone right now. I knew our Defence would initially have difficulty under a new coach, but this is absolutely ridiculous! What concerns me the most is that I don't see a sense of urgency from the coaching staff.....they say all the right words during the week, but nothing changes on Sunday! Now that the Offense is having difficulty, we are completely screwed. Wish I could find something positive right now, but simply can't. Next year??

Saintswrath 09-23-2012 04:54 PM

I think it's officially time to panic

Well i more or less mean it's time to succumb to the fact this team without it's Normal Coaching staff in place and everything being out of place and kinda half-assed threaded together to get some type of product on the field is not really worth rallying around right now..

I will continue to back this team but i am no longer setting myself up for heart-break, i think it's time for us to face reality right now, many will continue to make some predictions we can win x amount of games and go to the playoff's but we are already a conference and division game or 2 behind our division rivals even the one's that are losing.
Atlanta is playing lights out right now, they are taking care of Matt Ryan, giving him time and they have beefed up their Defense and their air and ground game are miles away where we should be.
I look at the rest of our schedule and i see a possible 4 games we should be able to squeak a win out of and only one of those being a Division game (Carolina)..

This is the year real fan's hold their team together as we brace for long tough to watch season..
What i can't stand more than us losing is Atlanta winning.

Euphoria 09-23-2012 04:55 PM

Don't know what is more annoying...

Having to watch the Saints D play or that damn Verizon commercial with the Saints in it.

Indeed. Let's make no mistake, there is no one on this team that can duck responsibility. They have all stunk. Drew has been running for his life for a couple years now. I tried to make that point many times in the offseason about our tackles. But Drew used to find a way around it. Not this year. And when he has time, such as the play you mentioned, he makes a horrible pass.

Then when he makes a good pass, the receivers drop it. And the defense just continues to suck. They kept the points down today, but they gave up over 500 yards to a bad team. And the coaches are clueless. There is no bright spot, at this time.

OK-'What does drew brees, Pete Carmichael and spags have in common

They Should all get fired!'
1-you are an idiot, an absolute idiot.
2-there is problems all over this team, and the biggest problem is going to be finger pointing right now.
The defence showed a huge improvement today, they still gave up big plays too many times, but I was glad to see that they could get the punt team out on to the field. The offence has no balance in their play calling, I don't know if Carmichael has gone made with power, but they need to stop throwing on every god damn down. Kromer looks absolutely lost, and is doing zero good while he's playing head coach, he needs to get back to dealing with the o-line and work on pass pro. our offence needs to start pounding the ball too. Sproles comes out and rips a 40+ yard run, gets some tempo and we score on the opening drive, but then we lay off the run and try and throw every goddamn down?? we have 3 unique backs that all compliment our offence beautifully. get them in the ****ing game. when we are up 24-6, start controlling the tempo and run down the clock. also, the officiating (if you can call it that) was just beyond disgusting. I can't believe some of those calls (face palm) but, in my opinion, this all boils down to not having SP on the sidelines. with out Sean to dictate what the team is doing they've just fallen apart. Vitt will be an improvement, but that's he's far from the answer. It's still amazing to think what Goodell did to us, and that he just kind of did it with out giving two ****s about what he was doing. He scapegoated the Saints to try show the NFLPA that he cares about player health to try and cover up his shotty record with player safety (if he knew about gregg williams' bounty programs all along, why did he act now? is it just a coincidence that he came forward with this bounty gate joke when he was under the most pressure?) and to deflect the attention off him for being a ****ty commissioner.
It sucks to admit, but that cock sucker Goodell got us good (and the rest of the NFL with these replacement refs). This season can't go by fast enough. hopefully we can get a high draft pick and maybe by the end of the season Spags will have worked his magic like he did with the giants and next year we can go lights out in 2013.
Still gonna remain optimistic about this season, but not holding my breath for anything.

Where to start? Where to start??? Drew is being hammered on every down. No one is keeping any sort of unity in the trenches.
Defense needs to go back and watch this in HD for a couple of days like the scene from a clock work orange.

Watched the second half in its entirety ... these replacement refs have to go, they are worse than the NBA replacement refs!

I don't blame them for the loss entirely because our offense, defense, special teams and the Chiefs play did a lot to control the outcome, but my God, all the missed calls and unnecessary reviews ... that game was at least 50 minutes longer than it should have been solely due to the bad officiating. What a disgrace! I think the replacement refs are in a conspiracy to get the TV networks and the NFL more revenue. I'm not kidding!!!

It was our second and he said if Sean behaved, we could have it back.

Who in here has said to "fire" Drew? Nobody. c'mon, we're 0-3, if you can't see that everyone is sucking, than I don't know what it's gonna take. Spags is still new here, so I won't call for his firing, but these other guys are embarrassing themselves along with the players. We have a better roster than we had last year, WITH Sean Payton, yet we've matched last season's loss total in the first 3 games. You don't see a coaching problem there?

We don't make millions of dollars to watch these guys play. You're right that losses happen sometimes. Quitting is something no fan should see from their team. Name one sign of giving a damn that you see from this team right now? 3 games like this in a row. Don't tell me it's one game anymore.

I don't think it's because the team doesn't give a damn... I think all 53 people and the coaches care. For some reason they just can't get it together. I'm not about to question the teams intergrity. EVER

Re: (OFFICIAL VENTING THREAD) Smoke 'em if you got 'em

Marshall Faulk was right... sometimes assistant coaches are hired because of who they know and when times are good you don't see people flaws. He said when the suspensions were handed out that alot of people were going to be exsposed. I honestly think its that and nothing more. Sean payton just makes us that much better. Still 13 game to figure out how to somehow fill his void

Re: (OFFICIAL VENTING THREAD) Smoke 'em if you got 'em

We had an 18 point lead and didn't score AT ALL in the second half!!

Can't blame that on the D, if the offense had scored instead of drew making a dumb throw, the chiefs would have started throwing and would become one dimensional, but drew had tons of time, up by 18 and threw it straight to there DB, 5 minutes later its 24-16

Look guys, the season is a wash. No sense in letting it cause you to have a stroke. Goddell has achieved his goal of destroying this season for us so lets just ride it out as best as we can, keep supporting our guys and look ahead to Sean's return next year. Maybe we can at least spoil it for the falcons or the sowboys.

Re: (OFFICIAL VENTING THREAD) Smoke 'em if you got 'em

The 1990 Saints started the season at 2-5, and were ranked #8 in the NFL in team defense. They NEVER GAVE UP, and got the last wildcard slot on the last game of the season (on MNF in the Superdome).

The 2002 Saints started the season at 9-4, and many of us know how that turned out. We LOST the last 3 games to "scrub" teams with a losing record, and missed the playoffs.

We play at Green Bay next week... a tough road to hoe.

This is a gut check, ladies & gentlemen.

There is a reason why the term "BANDWAGON" is used every season.

Who is still onboard the WhoDat train?

All I want to see is passion and players giving 100% and I'm not sure thats happening right now. We just need to accept it for what it is, a project.

It could be the new name of the dome, or it just might be the 500 yds. our D give up at home in the dome. 500 yds. we're lucky they didn't hang a 50 burger on us. Our O had plenty of chances and ended up a lot shorter than KC should have. If anyone defends this D about this game should watch it again, and if they can't see the 50 burger that should have been hung on us keep watching. We were lucky to be in the game. Everything needs changing, starting with the attitude or should I say lack of. No fire in the eyes, we look beat already.

W. Kovacs 09-23-2012 08:55 PM

Re: (OFFICIAL VENTING THREAD) Smoke 'em if you got 'em

Remember, we didn't just lose our coach, we also lost Joe Vitt, a key member of our defensive coaching staff beyond just his role as our interim coach. We also lost Vilma who, I would argue, is our most important defensive player. I say that because, while he may have lost a step physically, he was our general on the field. He could have been a guy that led the transition from our old D to our new D.

On offense, we lost a key piece of our o-line and the o-line coach now can't help the transition there because he is acting as head coach.

I'm a kickboxer. What I see happening to Drew and our offense is something I try to do to my sparring partners. I get people thinking about my jab, then fake the jab so they try to block it leaving themselves wide open for a left hook. Drew is so used to getting pressure that when opposing defenses drop extra people in to coverage Drew will still rush his throw and it leads to a pick. If we would rush the doggone ball we'd be showing the opposition we're not over-committing to the pass and teams would have to think twice about dropping extra guys into coverage lest they get the ball crammed down their gullet by one of the FOUR backs we have.

I guess my point is that we'd be mental to think about firing anyone as a result of this season. We just have to hunker down for a long season and enjoy the wins that we do pick up. On the Sundays we don't win, we should be keeping in mind that we're a great team that's going to probably get even greater by adding a high draft pick, and next year we're going to have a pissed off Sean Payton at the helm....and it's going to be awesome.

THANK YOU. It had to be said. We lose probably the most shrewd and organized head coach in the NFL, PLUS the defense is learning a new defensive scheme. What'd y'all expect?

Just support them through this tough time like we did when they rattled off those double digit win streaks (though some of us still complained during THAT).

As far as this Saints team goes, there have been much, much worse ones not so long ago. Ain't no point getting mad considering the circumstances. Settle in and embrace the suck. If or when we turn this thing around, the team can legitimately say they have the best fans in the world, through good AND bad. Like a marriage, it's through sickness and in health.

Good news is that we ain't gotta worry about them dang annoying bangwagon folks for a while since we're sitting at 0-3.

Re: (OFFICIAL VENTING THREAD) Smoke 'em if you got 'em

We lost our two most experienced coaches and now we have no one who knows how to run a team. Kromer has been in the league 20 years and he's still a position coach and has never been a head coach on any level. Spags is new to the team and has his hands full with the so called defense. Carmicheal is showing why he needs to be thankful that he's Payton's OC because he's not a leader or a particularly good play caller.

I'm not questioning anyone's fanhood. I'm just saying if you're going to be a fan be a good one. These guys have been handed the biggest **** burger any pro sports team has ever been handed. The freaking commissioner deliberately destroyed one of the best teams in his league. But he only wins if we let him. Keep loving our team and our guys. They're the same ones who gave us 14 wins last year.

They did not "quit". It is frustration... Our 2012 players, like some of the fans we have garnered since 2009 do not remember the feeling of frustration of nothing working.

Try and look at it from a players perspective. They have gone from being champions and being known as one of the most prolific offenses in NFL history to not being able to put more than 300 yards. What did the players do to cause that? Absolutely nothing. As far as the defense, they have not been very strong consistently for a very long time, one of the commentators in the game said something that is very true... In the last 4-5 years all of the emphasis has been put on the offense to outscore and make up for our lack of defense, now that the offense is out of sync the spot light is on the defense and they are not used to that.

Frustration and confusion takes its toll mentally and physically, I did not see anyone quit, what they tried and did just didn't work.

Lucky to be in the game?

We were leading 24-6 late in the 3rd quarter.

* We need Sean Payton. Joe Vitt would be a big step in the right direction.

* Our defense is not used to the DRAMATIC difference in styles (3G & Spags).

* No excuse (2 weeks in a row) for the Saints to NOT "POUND THE ROCK!"

* Time to get some Cadet time; let Ingram ride the pine (IMO).

Time to man up, folks!

I'm sorry, but I don't buy any of that. The players have nothing to do with the fact that they can't play well anymore? Then who did cause it? I'm sick of hearing the excuses from everyone. It seems almost like people worship this team instead of root for them. I love the Saints, and by the way, I've been a fan for as long as my memory goes back, but I'm not going to accept a lack of effort. In your opinion, it is not a lack of effort, but in my opinion, consistent lack of execution and lack of effort go hand in hand.

I see poor body language, dropped passes, missed tackles, missed assignments, and numerous penalties. The officiating was horrible yesterday, but regardless of how those calls may effect the outcome they have nothing to do with the horrible play by the Saints. To say that they are frustrated by not being able to put up 300 yards is the worst excuse I've heard yet. If they would pull their collective heads out of their butts and play with some enthusiasm and concentration they would not be so frustrated by game's end.

And lastly, regarding the defense, I have been complaining about them for years, so it's not as if I'm being inconsistent in my criticism of their play. You think I, or anyone for that matter, haven't noticed how bad that unit has been for so long? I don't much care if the defense isn't used to the spotlight... They are supposed to be professionals, so they had better get used to it, don't you think?
