When they reversed so many other calls, how do they not just reverse this one also? How does the whistle blow the play dead, when upon review, the play clearly was not dead? McCluster just let the ball go...

smh

How does the REF, using his whistle, blow the play dead

When he blows the whistle, the play is dead, by rule.

They changed part of by saying fumble recoveries are allowed if the blown whistle does not alter players reactions. Obviously the rule only applies to action immediately after the whistle and not to reconstructing the play as if a whistle was never blown.

Blowing the whistle was wrong, calling the ball dead where we recovered it was the correct call.

When the ref blow the whistle, the play is dead period. No discussion. The play is over. When the whistle is blown is not reviewable. When the play is blown dead, it's dead.
