One thing I'm sure of
None of our coaches will be looked at for any HC jobs next season.
I've always heard that good leaders create new leaders. i.e. Walsh, Parcells, etc. i wonder if Payton will one day create the same legacy for himself that those guys have done. |
Re: One thing I'm sure of
Way too early to make a statement like that.

Re: One thing I'm sure of
I think it is a safe statement. Now if by some miracle we turn this thing around and make the playoffs, then it might change. This is Kromer and Carmichaels chance to shine, so far that is not happening.

Re: One thing I'm sure of
no way they get looked at. These clowns inherited a superbowl team and are getting crushed. The philosophy is already in place, the players are in place, and they are terrible. YOu think some team is going to call Kromer and ask him to rebuild their franchise???? LMFAO

Re: One thing I'm sure of
Yeah, I made a comment in live chat yesterday that the talk of Kromer's future as a head coach has probably been reduced to a whisper (or maybe even mute). Carmichael still may get some looks, but I think the hype may die down on him some, too.

Re: One thing I'm sure of
Yeah I made this point about two weeks in another thread, as it is a slight positive for us that these guys likely will not be poached away from us for the upcoming year, as they have proven that they cannot handle things on their own, even if it does mean extra responsibilities. I mean, what do they expect, for their workload as a HC to get reduced from where it is now?

Re: One thing I'm sure of
Kromer is in a tough spot. He may have the title of HC right now but remember that he's the line coach all week so he's basically subordinate to Carmichael. Then on Sunday he has to change hats and be the boss.
Carmichael I think is showing himself to be what we all thought he was till Payton let him call some plays last year. In other words he isn't even a real OC. There's more to it than reading plays off a card. Those plays on that card get there through game planning and prep during the week and that's where Sean Payton comes in. Brees may have the option to change the play at the line but he's limited to a small number of options by the package that's out there at the time. Vitt may be able to light a fire under these guy asses. He looks more like the kind of guy players may be more prone to look to for leadership. Lets hope so because he's our only hope at this point. |
Re: One thing I'm sure of
You guys may be correct that Kromer isn't going to get a sniff for a long time, but I do think he is head coaching material. Dude was put in a impossible position to succeed this year. I get that the Saints have a Super Bowl type of team, but seriously, asking a guy to be the interim for the interim is just a bit much. At the very least, Kromer should have been named head coach for the entire year once Vitt was declared out for the first 6 games. I mean Vitt was running the show for most of the offseason and into training camp and preseason, not cool for Kromer's resume.
