As @mortreport is reporting, an agreement between NFL and NFLRA is at hand and both sides will work to have officials working this weekend. |
About bloody time.
The only downside is that if it would have gone it it may have cost the Commissar his job. |

The NFL is the only professional sport ( that I care about ) that doesn't have full time officials, so the owners position is that if their part time they are not entitled to a pension plan that the owners have to donate too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Re: Agreement between NFL and NFLRA is at hand...
Yep. And I also heard that they are Barely part time. Like, 38 hours a week as opposed to 40. But you are right, this one's on the owners, and Rodger is just the voice behind them...

Roger, 10-4. But he HAS made enough decisions in the past, that have had direct bearing on the team I root for, to make me a) find him to be not very good at his job, despite what a good person the pundits say he is, and b) to want him to lose his job because, well, he sucks. and btw, aren't there 32 owners? Or does one person own two teams? |

BTW, Green Bay owns there franchise, they have no owner therefore having only 31 owners |
Re: Agreement between NFL and NFLRA is at hand...
Packers don't have an "owner". They are community owned.

Re: Agreement between NFL and NFLRA is at hand...
Not a fan of Goodell. But, he is just the owners enforcer. He takes the heat for what the owners want. The owners smile all the way to the bank and stay away from the criticism.

Anyway, we should all wish to make that kind of coin full or part time, right? I almost wish it would go on some more just so that it WOULD cost RG his job. |

Daopoulos: NFL, NFLRA deal is done
Daopoulos: NFL, NFLRA deal is done | ProFootballTalk
NBC picked the right year to hire an officiating consultant. Jim Daopoulos, a long-time official and supervisor of officials, joined NBC this season. And he tells PFT that the NFL and NFL Referees Association have signed a new deal. A crew is being assembled to work Thursday night’s game between the Browns and Ravens. Then, on Friday, the officials will travel to Dallas to retrieve their equipment and receive their game assignments for Sunday and Monday, with the same crews working together as last year. Details are still not clear, but Daopoulos says that the much-debated pension issue was resolved with the current defined-benefit plan remaining in place for five years before switching to a 401(k)-style defined contribution plan. Also, it’s believed that the deal will cover five more years before this one, which means that we’ll potentially be doing this again in 2018. UPDATE 10:56 p.m. ET: Daopoulos has provided some more facts. The officials will vote on the deal in Dallas on Friday, at which time it will become final. They’ll then participate in a clinic, and head on Saturday to the game sites. Also, the officials will receive a pay raise of four percent, with 12 guaranteed game checks this year and 19 in subsequent years (including preseason). As to the checks they’ve missed this year, the officials will divvy up $2.5 million. |
Re: Daopoulos: NFL, NFLRA deal is done
Thank you owners, refs.
Now I can get back to blaming the right people. |
Thank goodness!!

NFL, Officials agree to deal
NFL: Locked-out officials, league agree to deal in time Week 4 - NFL News | FOX Sports on MSN
The NFL and its locked-out officials agreed to terms on a new deal late Wednesday night which would put officials in place for this weekend’s games — including Thursday night's game — according to sources close to the situation. According to the sources, the final sticking point related to the much-discussed pension plan, but that stalemate finally ended. The sides are currently working on paperwork according to sources and at least half of the locked-out officials must approve the new deal, but sources said that is expected to be a formality. Sources said the officials are expected to convene in Dallas on Friday to do things such as collect uniforms and gear. Thank God! |
Re: NFL, Officials agree to deal
This is interesting to see just where the Saints really stand.
I think the officiating crews have let other teams get by with way too much in the Saints games while the Saints and other elite teams are actually playing by the rules. |
Re: NFL, Officials agree to deal
Glad this is over with. My evil boycott plans worked. Mwah ha ha ha ha ha!

Re: NFL, Officials agree to deal
Hallelujah. Best news I've heard in a long time.

Re: NFL, Officials agree to deal
Gotta say I never thought I'd be excited about anything to do with refs. Strange days we live in
|
Re: NFL, Officials agree to deal
I hope everyone gives the same attention to these guys in regards to how many HORRIBLE calls they make as well. There's no doubt that the replacement refs were worse. But, in the same way the league stood up for the replacement guys despite the obvious errors, they have always defended the regular refs and done so ten times over. ALOT of players and coaches have paid some heavy fines for speaking out against clear and undeniable mistakes made in the past.

Re: NFL, Officials agree to deal
It's amazing how a $300 million dollar swing in gambling revenues from a blown call just two days prior brings everyone back to the table to hash out an agreement ... it is all about the Benjamins.

Re: NFL, Officials agree to deal
Thank god... the officiating has been utterly dreadful with the replacement refs.
|
Re: NFL, Officials agree to deal
Now the Saints can get back to their up tempo style of offense, I believe the Pro Ref's will give them that oppurtunuity just by knowing the rules.
Amen, glad it's over |
Re: NFL, Officials agree to deal
The regular Ref's are probably going to blow some calls but game flow will be consistent.

Okay now all that's left is to deem all the first 3 weeks results as erroneous ... moving the Falcons record from 3-0 to 0-0 and the Saints record from 0-3 to 0-0. I can dream :)

So, since GB has no owner they just have to abide by what the other 31 owners decide? They have no vote on matters that require an owner's vote? |
