Hartley offers no excuses for missed field goal

1 Attachment(s)
“It was just a flat miss. … Protection, like I said, was great,” he noted. “I felt great coming into the ball. It left my foot and it felt good, and then I saw it tailing left.”

When asked about how close he came to making it, Hartley said that was little consolation.

“It’s either good or it’s not … there’s no in between,” he said. “If it’s close, it doesn’t matter. I know what my job is, and it didn’t happen this time.

“Obviously, it’s disappointing personally knowing that I let these guys down that fought and battled throughout (the game).”

Should be used to letting your guys down by now hartley, you do it often enough

You have one job, kick the ball through the posts, you can't even do that

If sproles had caught that pass it wouldn't have come down to Hartley and personally hope another game this season comes down to hartley

What is Hartleys average with less than lets say 3 minutes on the clock for the lead post 2009 season?

Hang tight. Not sure that exact stat exists, but i may be able to pull a few others that would tell that story.. or close to it.

Something you should keep in mind Post 2009:

2011 - no stats
2010 - only 14 games

Thus far... Hartley has never played a full season, and 2010 is the only year he played more than 1/2 the games.

If this DUMB AZZ would just LEARN to aim at the RIGHT post when over 45, he wouldn't have this problem.

He has a strong right leg. When the pressure is ON, he will lay into it. When he does that the arc of his leg and foot will always produce a curve-left ball.

It shows on his field goals. He would be best-served to drop the soccer-style and develop a Dempsey-style of kicking.

He has so few situational stats its is not really clear...

2012:
he is 60% with a 7 point margin
66.7% trailing by 7
4th qtr 50%

2010:
OverTime 0% 0-1
78% with a 7 point margin
4th qtr 77.8%

This weeks stats have not updated yet.

But what would the average be from one player who makes the first one, is told it's no good and has to move back, gets ready for the second and is told to move again? I know he missed it but it didn't cost us the game. If it would have been at the end of regulation then yes, it would have. I am going to have faith in him until he turns into a Gramatica or Mare.

So it's safe to say trending down since 09. Wonder what Kasey is doing for the rest of the season?

NFL 2012 stats for FG 40-49 yards are 68-84 for 81%

Where's my Adderol?

Re: Hartley offers no excuses for missed field goal

It's not whether he made or missed this particular kick. Yes, he made the initial kick. Then he prepared for the rekick and was stopped and had to rekick again.
The point is he missed it in another clutch situation. I've been pulling for him from the start. From the Adderol incident to the hip problem that kept him out last season. He brought me a victory in the Superbowl.
Having said that..........where's Kasay?
Edit: I haven't given up on him totally just yet.:bng:

kasay...call him. i'm over hartley...there are too many "decent" kickers out there to keep hoping this guy becomes consistent. i can NEVER watch him kick...awful.

You know what... F-it!

Hartley and Shanle swap positions. neither could be any worse, and Hartley needs a little toughening.

Your right, we shouldn't have even been within reach at the end. But he could have helped us steal it.

I know what we all did when Hookley missed that FG...

I also know what Kasay did... he started stretching.
