Question for the Forum:
Should the Saints let Brees call his own plays?
It may be not have worked with the scab refs disrupting the tempo of the game, but I wonder if Brees would have a better feel of what plays might be more suitable; especially if the Saints went no huddle and didn't allow defenses to change players. |
Re: Question for the Forum:
I am so down on Pete Carmichael right now, and things are so stale and predictable, I'd say YESSSS!!! The headset in the helmet works two ways, at this point in an 0-4 season Drew should tell Pete the play he wants to run and Pete says OK do that.

Re: Question for the Forum:
He already has the freedom to change at the Line.. And judging by the time outs, and delay of games..
he is doing so LOL |

Re: Question for the Forum:
Drew checks out a lot. Kill kill kill is when he audibles and he says it quite a bit.

I mean give Brees 10 plays, 5 passes, 5 runs and let him call any of those 10 he wants, without input from the sidelines. |

Re: Question for the Forum:
I hope a reporter asked why the Saints didn't try to run the ball on 1st & goal instead of passing 3 staright times!!
Ingram was getting 2 yards every trip of the train, so he should have gotten a couple carries!! |

Re: Question for the Forum:
Assuming that they (Brees & Carmichael) still gameplan the way they (Brees & Payton) did, I would think that Brees has a lot of input already into how they are going to run plays during the course of the game.
I don't know if taking the play calling responsibility away from the guy who's job it is, is really a good idea, even if we are taking about a limited number of these types of situations within the game. The coordinator is removed from the actual game play and that gives him a certain advantage over a QB who's constantly engaged in the game and has to already think about several other things, so I'd keep it in Carmichael's hands. One of the arguments for causing the Saints' offense to be less explosive than it was a year to go has been that Brees might have taken too much on his plate with the absence of Payton. While I'm not saying that this argument is right, I'd still err on the side of caution in adding to the responsibilities Brees already has. |

Hell Im all for Urkel coming in and calling plays. Anything different to try is better than nothing.
