Tony Dungy thinks New Orleans Saints can bounce back after 'death by inches' start: First-and-10
FIRST TAKE: Tony Dungy is one of the best examples of how a head coach's legacy can stick with a team even when he's not there. After Dungy retired as coach of the Indianapolis Colts in 2009 and handed the reins to longtime assistant Jim Caldwell, the Colts went on to the Super Bowl that season before losing to the New Orleans Saints.
The Colts remained successful in 2009 because they had one of the NFL's all-time great quarterbacks in Peyton Manning and because they had built a winning foundation during Dungy's tenure. For the Saints to be losing by those small margins is actually quite amazing when you look at what went down. They could easily be 4-0 but like the man stated, it's the attention to details. Those details got pushed aside and it shows. Filling in for leaders is not an easy task. Mistakes will be made a plenty.

Wasn't he the one that said the Saints were dead?

Don't get it...
Dungy won one Superbowl because he had Peyton Manning... Jon Gruden had to be traded for because Tampa Bay had such a good team and couldn't let the window of opportunity close... Everytime Dungy opens his mouth, NFL ANALyst fall over themselves to kiss his arse?!? WTF?!? |

Why jeanpierre?
Dungy was a good coach. Smart and got out before he suffered many loses professionally. Personally, his son died ...google the story. Analyst ( cute play of the word there you did) , fans like him. No controversy like Payton, Belichek. No big personality like Parcells or Jimmy Johnson. |
Re: Tony Dungy thinks New Orleans Saints can bounce back after 'death by inches' start: First-and-10
Deal him a race card and he'll play it, though.
Remember when Parcells was going to step in and Dungy pitched a fit because we weren't interviewing black coaches? Ridiculous. Alaska |
Re: Tony Dungy thinks New Orleans Saints can bounce back after 'death by inches' start: First-and-10
Other than the fact that it was Herm Edwards who pitched a fit about it, and not Tony Dungy, you're right Alaska. I suppose they do kinda look alike though
