Re: I have to admit
Speaking of screaming at people -- the other thing I keep touting about Vitt coming back, is you have to look at Vitt's role when Payton is here. He is NOT just a position-oriented, subordinate linebackers coach with one job, like Kromer is. Vitt is Payton's Mr. Fix It -- if there is a problem or situation, Vitt is like quality control, a detail person, take this thing and make such-and-such happen -- if someone needs chewing out, if someone is underperforming, if mental mistakes keep happening, if some problem with the team needs to be figured out in the film room and fixed before next week, Payton sends Vitt to do it. Remember the narrative of the bounty stuff, Payton instructed Vitt "to keep an eye on" Williams. He's like a quality control and detail-oriented guy. That's actually his main deal, FIXING PROBLEMS and getting ___ done that needs to happen. And as a coach, he has seen it all before.
Having that guy in the Mr. Fix It mode, to make problems disappear like Wolf from Pulp Fiction ("That's thirty minutes away. I'll be there in ten") is going to improve the team greatly. |

I take it back. I don't think you're crazy. You are hopeful. I am too. Anything could happen. Still, we gave up over 400 yards Sunday night...again. I want to be wrong so bad I can't stand it. I want that 9-2 run so bad it hurts. I'd LOVE to shove an amazing comeback story like that right up Roger's nozzle - oh how I'd love it. I hope and I pray. But I'm afraid that even with improvement on defense - and we did see some Sunday night - 9-2 is a very tall order. Getting our defense back to the middle of the pack, which I think will be required for 9-2, is a very tall order considering just how bad it is. But you're not crazy. You're a Sunshiner. I'm a founding member of that party. I'm trying Danno. Truly I am trying. |
Re: I have to admit
I think Danno is making a logical prediction, not an emotional wish. If you just look at the Saints performance I tend to think your right and wrong at the same time. Yes the numbers from week one until now are correct... But the trend tells a different story.
Week 1 - Game up 40 Week 2 - Gave up 35 Week 3 - Gave up 27 Week 4 - Gave up 27 Week 5 - Gave up 24 I do not care about yards, we are mid league in Red Zone. If you scratch Week 1 we ave 28.25 PPG.. 25th in the league. We all knew Spags defense would take a few games to start to gel, and it has. Now look at the remainder of our games: Tampa Bay x2 Denver Philadelphia Atlanta x2 Oakland San Francisco NYG Dallas Carolina I only see San Francisco being a probable loss and NYG being very difficult considering how they play late in the season. Denver will be interesting but not a battle royal. We are 1-4 now... By week 16 that puts us 12-6. No 9 game winning streak needed. We have also seen that with the exception of Atlanta and Houston, everyone is dropping should have won games. Atlanta's time is coming, I think they peaked too early in the season, Houston lost Cushing and they will be a problem for them. |
Re: I have to admit
Can somebody tell me what happens if we have a better division record than the Falcons but they are better over all. They would still win the division?

If there is a tie then head to head match up And then division win % Then common opponents win % then conference win % If there's still a tie, then there is a battle to the death between back up quarterbacks using mutually agreed upon hand held weapons. Or at least I think that's how the tie breakers work. (Edit: Ok scratch that last one, it turns out "Strength of Victory" means something totally different) |

Y'all are just trying to get my hopes up...again.
