I think Goodell is taking one for the team. He is a puppet for the owners. There is another thread that lays it all out and it makes the most sense of anything I've seen. If someone advised the owners that there needed to be a sacrificial lamb to save them down the road, then why not have the team with the most loyal fans be the scapegoat.

The only thing I'm interested in right now is what Freech finds. He may dig up something below the surface. Somebody could break ranks with the NFL and expose what is really going on behind the scenes and I honestly believe this is a real scenario that could play out.

I wouldn't be suprised if Freeh's report actually shows the practice rampant within the league. Including suppressed information the league located during investigation of the Saints implicating other teams.

We already know the league basically stated they couldn't find information on the '07 Packers or information released in the press regarding former players stating it was common practice.

The league KNEW and they ignored it as long as the money flows in. They only changed their tune when they realized the player lawsuits could effect their wallets.
