Chargers’ Melvin Ingram fined $15,750 for hit on Drew Brees

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; He led with the crown of the helmet. Can't hit the quarterback or a defenseless receiver with the crown of the helmet. How did they come up with $15,750? Seems pretty random. Is that a predetermined amount?...

That's Roger's debt from the roulette tables in Vegas last week.

Nah! It was the entrance fee some smart charged Goodell for entering Harrah's

It was the Goodell calculation; ie,
Cost of contract ÷ expected number of plays each game of the player.

Then again, that could be b%^&s@£*! like the man himself.

I like how the leauge enforces leading with the crown of the helmet. It such a dangerous way to collide with somebody, both for the tackler and the person being tackled. NFL players have great strong necks and can most of time withstand such hits, the real danger comes when a Pop Warner or Junior High kid tries to tackle somebody like that because he saw his favorite NFL player do it, its such a high risk that it leads to catastrophic injury.

The amount seems quite random but I would guess there is som kind of scale where different things come into consideration.

W.T. Sherman is my favorite General. After all he did order Atlanta to be burned to the ground.
