The way you get Payton back, is through a PR type situation. If the world sees what really happened and if public sentiment is of the feeling that Payton got a raw deal from Goodell, if the public sees how Goodell manipulated things to get the result he wanted, if people see that, then once it is exposed they will have almost no choice but to walk it back. But if people accept Goodell's word without question, or if Saints fans out there say "I'm tired of hearing about bounties, I'm tired of fighting, the NFL says they're guilty so they must be, the team needs to move on," then it goes away into limbo of a story no one cares about, and it will never change.
