Joe Vitt: "Chris Ivory aint goin' nowhere"

Re: Joe Vitt: "Chris Ivory aint goin' nowhere"
4 Fumbles in 1009 yards of rushing.
2 were lost. Average YPC - 5.0 F.Y.I. Alaska |
Re: Joe Vitt: "Chris Ivory aint goin' nowhere"
He hasn't been activated for any of the team's six games.
Play him ! |
Re: Joe Vitt: "Chris Ivory aint goin' nowhere"
Maybe they've been holding him out just to make him angry so that when they do activate him he'll be ready to kill somebody.
Oh crap, i said "kill". Please, nobody tell Roger... |
Re: Joe Vitt: "Chris Ivory aint goin' nowhere"
Interesting..Ingram better be nervous or he's stupid. They show case Ivory and he bust some heads for his usually 5.4 yards a carry. Ingram will see little playing time, and could lose his 3rd spot.

Re: Joe Vitt: "Chris Ivory aint goin' nowhere"
Ingram at times has looked about as bad as Legarret Blount.
|
Re: Joe Vitt: "Chris Ivory aint goin' nowhere"
Either committ to ivory of tarde him for someone usefull. It doesn't make sense to have all these running backs and a serious lack of talent on defense.

The commitment to RB's goes like this; PT Sproles Ingram Ivory/Cadet Maybe there's a reason Ivory isn't playing. :dunce: he dumb?? |
Re: Joe Vitt: "Chris Ivory aint goin' nowhere"
Then trade him. I'm sure somebody outhere can use him and has something to offer

Re: Joe Vitt: "Chris Ivory aint goin' nowhere"
I honestly do not think any of the coaches up to last week had the balls to make a change or put something on the field that wasn't there week 1..
There are plenty of arguments about Ivory.... Not a one for Cadet not seeing the ball.. Lack of testicular fortitude. |
BRING BACK THE TUSK!

They need to give Ingram a real chance.Everybody knows as soon as he gets in the game the play is H.B. iso up the middle. He is going to be our future in the run game.Dont bail on him that quick.

This is the only part of that article that really bothers me.
"the team isn’t communicating their thoughts to him." |
Re: Joe Vitt: "Chris Ivory aint goin' nowhere"
Running backs get hurt often. I'm sure the Saints coaching staff feels better knowing that if someone does get hurt, they've got one of the best back ups in the league.
|
Re: Joe Vitt: "Chris Ivory aint goin' nowhere"
Then run him JOE!
|
Re: Joe Vitt: "Chris Ivory aint goin' nowhere"
STOP!! with the TRADE Talk! we wont get anything for a UDF RB! who hasnt played in a regular season game since last year Unless we REALLY need a defensive player the market for rb's are so LOW it's crazy Marshawn Lynch highest trade offer was a 4th RD pick rb's come a dime a dozen well at least that's what the League thinks and plus we need him more than he needs us
|
Re: Joe Vitt: "Chris Ivory aint goin' nowhere"
This is common for coaches to say. Just like when Tom Coughlin said they weren't trading Shockey.

Re: Joe Vitt: "Chris Ivory aint goin' nowhere"
The thing is, Ivory is ideally a short-yardage & goal-line RB, and we almost always PASS in those situations. Whether this is contrary to tradition (or common sense) is inconsequential, it's simply what the Saints do.
Ideally, you'd think we'd amass a stable of 3rd-down backs (Sproles, Thomas) because we have no history of "pounding" the ball, and show no interest in developing such a history. What do we need a short-yardage RB for??? |
Re: Joe Vitt: "Chris Ivory aint goin' nowhere"
IVORY IVORY IVORY !!!!!!!! PLAY HIM VITT LET INGRAM SIT THE BENCH !!!

1-Hasn't played all year 2-Has a reputation for fumbling 3-Coming off a serious foot injury 4-Poor in pass protection 5-Doesn't play special teams 6-Has a reputation for being made of glass Why would anyone give us a decent player or a decent pick for this guy? I'd rather keep him for injury insurance because our other RB's haven't proven to be very durable either. When PT and/or Ingram get hurt later this season, we'll be glad we have Ivory to fall back on. |
He is making $540k a year.
The reason no one would trade for him you ask? ... He is a RFA in 9 weeks. Why would any team give up anything of value for him right now? |

I would like to see Ingram traded for a 2nd round pick next year New Orleans Saints - Salaries by Year |
Re: Joe Vitt: "Chris Ivory aint goin' nowhere"
Off topic but this tweet from Ivory had me dyin
@ivory_29 Came back to my room after meetings to a foul smell and it was the cleaning lady ****ting in my bathroom smh terrible.. Just....wow....they should let him get some touches just for having to go thru that... |
Re: Joe Vitt: "Chris Ivory aint goin' nowhere"
Ivory BLOWS UP linebackers with a ball in his hand and he can't block?
I wouldn't want to be the one to tell him that. Alaska |
Re: Joe Vitt: "Chris Ivory aint goin' nowhere"
I would like to see Ivory showcased much more than Ingram, but I also could see them in the backfield together.

That's a strategy when you have 4 healthy RB's that are all playing well and you are winning. Not when you are losing and you dont have all of your coaches. There has been no one with any stroke available to make that call so far this year. |
Re: Joe Vitt: "Chris Ivory aint goin' nowhere"
Been looking at a lot of old games lately. I see a lot of high light worthy plays from Ivory. Broken tacles, long runs and just generally exciting play. Ingram? Nada.
Ivory has the ability to change games. What's the point of having him tie up a roster spot if you're not going to use him? |
Re: Joe Vitt: "Chris Ivory aint goin' nowhere"
Five HB's on the roster. Last in the NFL in rushing attempts and yards.
|
Re: Joe Vitt: "Chris Ivory aint goin' nowhere"
Quote:
I view Cadet as Sproles back-up, with Ingram being PT's back-up. Ivory, despite his fumbling, no pass protecting, often injured, no special team playing self, has just too much upside to cut. And the fact that we have 5 capable RB's and are still last in rushing should be a gigantic clue that RB ain't the problem. |
Re: Joe Vitt: "Chris Ivory aint goin' nowhere"
The problem is o-line and utilization (coaching).
|
Re: Joe Vitt: "Chris Ivory aint goin' nowhere"
Can't help but think that Ivory would be more productive running through the same holes as Ingram tries to. The schemes they are using for Ingram are NOT EFFECTIVE, time to at least try something different with him.
