Bob Ford: Eagles fans to take New Orleans by storm
Don't start none; won't be any!!
Sometime in the hazy evening on Monday, long after the bar crawls on Saturday and Sunday nights, beyond the pep rallies in the afternoon and the tailgate party in Lafayette Square, that's when the rented high school band will break into "The Philadelphia Eagles Victory Song" and thousands of fans will fall into line - or just fall - as the parade to the Superdome begins and they attempt to navigate their own road to victory. "It could be a little loud. It might be a little obnoxious, but that's kind of par for the course," said Craig "Qwimby" Chenosky, founder of the Green Legion, one of several Philadelphia-area businesses that specialize in travel packages for Eagles fans who want to take their special act to other cities. It's going to be a long night........getting your arse beat and then wandering around lost in a strange city.

Now that the Saints are tanking, look for the rowdy crowds of visiting fans to get more and more vocal and noticeable each week, in the Dome, as more and more local people start selling their tickets off and cashing out. Plus the fans of visiting teams can smell blood in the water -- they used to all be scared of seeing New Orleans on their schedule, dreading it....now they are laughing and joking and can't wait to see their team go against the worst defense of all time. I'd sure travel to see that historic event, if it was my team going against the worst defense in history since 1950.
20,000 Eagles fans descended on Miami last year? I"ll tell you why, folks. Because the Dolphins were 4-8, an 8 loss team at that point, they were pathetic, and Eagles fans wanted a road trip for an easy "W." That's how bad it is. We suck. |
Re: Bob Ford: Eagles fans to take New Orleans by storm
I work in Philly. Their fans are even more frustrated than ours. Barring last week, all our losses could have gone either way. Their losses are made up of mind blowing errors that have them cursing out loud in rage. If they win most of them will be making sighs of relief.

I think we win this one by 2 td's. They are going to come out fired up in the first qtr. If we can manage to force them into some mistakes, the wheels will fall off. |
Re: Bob Ford: Eagles fans to take New Orleans by storm
Both teams have serious problems. I don't see either team going up by 2 scores unless the Saints D starts singing "If I just lay here..." like they did last week. Hopefully they show up and at least entertain us by keeping it close.

I've seen their defense twice this year, and just saw them last weekend against the Cowboys. Their defense appears to have more talent than ours but they played arguably worse and with less enthusiasm than the Saint d.

Yeah, but were they elite level bad?

Re: Bob Ford: Eagles fans to take New Orleans by storm
Well, you can't blame them for wanting to get away from the Northeast for a little while!
Philly fans are every bit as obnoxious as their reputation suggests. Like the Foulcons, they're lousy company when they come to town. Here's hoping we send them home miserable. |
Re: Bob Ford: Eagles fans to take New Orleans by storm
Wow, busloads of Philly fans ... New Orleans has my sympathy,.
