Ignoring the obvious for the New Orleans Saints and the Philadelphia Eagles going into their Week 9 matchup would be setting themselves up for harsher consequences than either side thought they would ponder after only nine weeks of the NFL season.
For all intents and purposes, Monday night's game in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome is an elimination game. Even with a loss for either team it's not a complete mathematical impossibility for Monday night's loser to make the playoffs in early January. It is a highly likely improbability, though, as both teams are parked far behind the pack in their respective division and their conference.
