NEW ORLEANS — It would not be an unfair assessment to say the New Orleans Saints have struggled defensively in 2012.

The Saints have given up the most yards and points of any team this season. But something special happens when the unit is called upon at the goal line.

"When we get down there, it's pride," said Saints linebacker Curtis Lofton. "It's man to man. We have to get a stop. We have to hold them to a field goal."

Or hold them to nothing, as the defense did Sunday late in the fourth quarter of the Saints' 31-27 victory over the previously unbeaten Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons had three tries after the two-minute warning to punch it in from the one-yard line.
