Sunday @ Oakland
I'm curious to see what all of your thoughts are on the game plan the Saints utilize in this one. The Raiders defense is horrible against the run and the pass. I actually see us running the ball down their throat with Ivory, Ingram and PT. I would not be at all surprised if they rushed for nearly 200 yards combined while setting Brees up to pick them apart. Also, the Raiders could be playing without McFadden and Goodson at RB this week, so I expect Carson Palmer to pass a lot if they are out.
I seriously think our worst football is behind us. I don't see this as being a trap game or anything. This has the potential of being the most complete game the Saints have played all year. Reaching the .500 mark would be such a relief after the way this season started. |

Re: Sunday @ Oakland
They utilize a zone blocking scheme, we always have trouble with zone blocking teams...
Dennis Allen is a former coach, no doubt he has inside knowledge about our offense... Palmer is not an all-out terrible QB, we may have trouble defending the pass... |

I could see this game as a replay of the KC debacle, or the Saints could re-enact the beatdown the Ravens put on them last week! I full expect the Saints to win this game, but I have said the same thing all season!! 45-18 Saints!!! |
Re: Sunday @ Oakland
Wrap up. Don't let Moore and Heyward-Bey make explosive plays on us.
Would like to finally see us dominate all 4 quarters. On paper this looks like an easy win, however... any given Sunday anything can happen. I can remember a few years back when the Eagles were heavy favorites coming into Oakland and falling flat on their face. Focus. Dominate. |
Re: Sunday @ Oakland
It's supposed to rain out here on Sunday - in fact it's supposed to start on Friday and rain through Monday. The field could be an issue, and it could play to our advantage, especially if their backs aren't 100%.

Re: Sunday @ Oakland
If it's nasty we can just pound the ball.
although, if Ivory is going to start fumbling this will be the weekend. |
Re: Sunday @ Oakland
Having lived in Cinci and watching the Bungles for twenty years I have had the opportunity to see Palmer in action on a regular basis (when the game wasn't blacked out). Palmer is a pretty good passer given time. The last several years in Cinci he took a real beating because Brown doesn't like to pay players who aren't flashy, such as O-linemen. So, he is gun shy. His last two years here his elbow was so bad the deep pass was not available. With good pressure our DBs should be able to get a few picks.

Game plan = IVORY ..... IVORY ... N IVORY !!!!!

Re: Sunday @ Oakland
Anyone and everyone knows a division rivalry game is pretty easy to get up for and prepare for......it's always the next week that is actually the hardest to get up for. This one scares the bejesus out of me. Left coast, a down opponent (wounded, crippled cat) a typical Oakland specialty brewing. We punch these monkeys in the face, (as I expect them to) and then i'll feel a lot better about our team and the direction we are headed. We need to step on their throats and not give them a chance, otherwise it could get stinky.

Dennis Allan.
Thats the wild card in this. because of this is why I can not predict how this game will go, they beat Pittsburgh earlier this season to. |
Re: Sunday @ Oakland
didnt palmer pass for over 400 yards this game..????? I think thats what my brother said, if thats true, then ..ouuuuccchh

Re: Sunday @ Oakland
A Rainy day in Oakland would be GREAT. The Raiders are pretty much non-existent in the run game (rank 31st in the league). Even if McFadden plays, he's really not that good. Expect the raiders to pass alot and hopefully it will make Palmer make a few mistakes!

Ivory, ingram, and at least 1 Td pass to keep the record going

Re: Sunday @ Oakland
I think I'm in good company in saying these crap teams scare me more than the good ones, lol. For some reason we have a problem with them.

Re: Sunday @ Oakland
I am not one who likes making predictions, because I usually suck bad at it. What I will say is at least on paper, this could be the first game this year that the Saints blow out an opponent.
A blow out probably will not happen, the Raiders are having a bad year, but they do have pride, and should be an interesting game. The Raiders also play much better at home than on the road. I do expect Carson Palmer to drop at least 350 yards on the Saints defense, key is limit the scoring, and hopefully the Saints can stop the run, and hold Oakland to field goals. On offense, I really don't expect Drew Brees to have a great game, it is outdoors, and since 2006 his outdoor stats are not great. Expect a heavy dose of the running game from the Saints, and hopefully some timely passes that work out. Saints must control the clock, and actually score or at least not go three and out. Field position in a game like this, where the weather elements may be bad, is very critical. Expect mistakes and turnovers if the elements are bad, still, the Saints are on a roll and need this one badly. McFadden for this game is questionable, he could be the key guy. |

Re: Sunday @ Oakland
Lets see,
1.We're on a roll 2.We just beat our hated rival 3.We're on the road 4.We're playing on grass 5.We have San Fran next week. This certainly reeks of a trap game. This game is a toss-up. |
Re: Sunday @ Oakland
Run or backs, all of them. Pt, Ingram, Ivory .... keep them going. Like dano said about a trap, dont get caught looking ahead. We just need to control the clock, and the run game.... things will work out for us.

Re: Sunday @ Oakland
TRAP
I hope we're practicing under the sprinklers this week. I consciously avoided this game in my travel plan this year. That is going to be one UNfriendly crowd. Alaska |

Re: Sunday @ Oakland
As far as it being a trap game....I think they know by now they cannot afford this loss. Pretty sure Brees and Vitt feel we need to get to .500 now to strengthen our chances of making the playoffs. The weather will be an issue but I think if we go with the same offensive game plan of the last 2 games and just keep it balanced we'll be ok. I mean Doug Martin of TB ran for over 200yds and like 4tds against these guys. If we stick with our ground game and just get the W we'll be fine. There is no need to focus on blowing them out or running up the score....just focus on excuting then winning.
