More secondary woes for Oakland Raiders with Brees up next
1 Attachment(s)
ALAMEDA -- It's still early in the week, but based on who the Raiders had at practice Wednesday, they could be facing prolific New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees with a depleted secondary.
Missing from practice as warm-ups and drills came to a close were free safety Matt Giordano (concussion) and strong safety Tyvon Branch (neck). Also absent were running back Darren McFadden (ankle), running back Mike Goodson (ankle) and defensive tackle Richard Seymour (hamstring). Tight end Brandon Myers was on the field, although chances are he won't be doing much after his second concussion of the season. Brees leads the NFL with 2,847 yards passing with 25 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He'll be operating against an Oakland secondary which had trouble defending the middle in a 55-20 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, with Joe Flacco completing 21 of 30 passes for 341 yards, three touchdowns and an interception. With both starting safeties out, the Raiders could move cornerback Michael Huff back to free safety, which would necessitate putting either Joselio Hanson, Brandian Ross, Coye Francies or Phillip Adams into the starting lineup opposite Ron Bartell. Ross and Francies are predominantly special teams players. The Raiders cut Pat Lee, a starting cornerback for seven games in Bartell's absence, to make room for Bartell, with Allen citing the special teams work of the other cornerbacks. One game at a time.

Looks like Graham could have another big game

Except from a few superstars the difference in talent level between players are very very small. Even a team with "scrubs" can beat you if you play a bad game.

Kansas city comes to mind

Even though we SHOULD win, it doesn't mean we WILL win.

Any given Sunday
we have to come out in attack mode and as Sean Payton would say "keep the gas pedal down" |
Re: More secondary woes for Oakland Raiders with Brees up next
Because we're favored and because it's Oakland, that makes them a DANGEROUS OPPONENT!
We've been known to elevate the level of our competition to god-like status before. All I can say is, if we drop a must-win game to an inferior opponent like the Raiders, it would be equal to chopping the tip off the wee-wee of every Saints fan - |

I literally just cringed after reading this. |
I had marked this game down as a loss even before the season started. I don't know what it is about outdoor games on the west coast but we always seem to struggle big time at those times. The hopeful thing is that a lot of their guys are injured. I still suspect McFadden to play an he alone could light is up terribly.
Cautiously optimistic I would say. |
Re: More secondary woes for Oakland Raiders with Brees up next
Come on... you marked down a lot of games as losses. Let's not kid ourselves.
|
Before the season started??? Lol no I had us winning most of them. I was utterly depressed when the season started and we started losing games.
In any case the west coast thing is a fact. Go back and take a look at our record over the last three years on the west coast. |

I refuse to eat the cheese after the Chiefs game earlier this season |
Re: More secondary woes for Oakland Raiders with Brees up next
Oakland will come out swinging, no doubt.
They got embarrassed last week and they'll see this as the perfect opportunity for some redemption, not to mention a chance to play spoiler for a developing feel-good story CP is a good enough passer to give our secondary fits if we don't get some pressure to him early, and he's been racking up yards recently. Couple this with their 1st and 2nd string RBs still being out, and he's gonna be throwing that thing all over the place. Malcolm better be ready |
Re: More secondary woes for Oakland Raiders with Brees up next
Let's us not forget Dennis Allen would love to upset one of his mentor's former teams plus he was the DB coach back in 2009 in New Orleans, Saints better not take this team lightly

Re: More secondary woes for Oakland Raiders with Brees up next
I dont think this is a trap game. We had 4 trap games at the beginning of the season. We are over trapped, LOL

Dennis Allen has had this game circled on his schedule all year. He knows this team well......the offense anyway.
I think that the game starts out close and then they watch as Drew throws for 5 TDs.:bng: |
