We already knew Aldon Smith was a scary good pass rusher for the San Francisco 49ers. We got a peek at the talented defensive end's ceiling on Monday night against the Chicago Bears.

At least, we think it was his ceiling.

Smith finished with 5.5 sacks of Bears quarterback Jason Campbell, putting up an all-time defensive stat line in a 32-7 victory at Candlestick Park. No player's ever had more sacks on the "Monday Night Football" stage.

Smith has an NFL-leading 15 sacks on the season and 28.5 sacks in his first 26 career games. That's the most production in a player's first 26 games since sacks became a recorded stat in 1982.

Late in the fourth quarter, ESPN cameras captured right tackle Gabe Carimi staring into the abyss on the Bears sideline. Smith treated Carimi -- listed at 6-foot-7 and 314 pounds -- like a rag doll all night. It was a beating both physical and psychological. Smith was simply playing at another level.

This concerns me quite a bit since we might miss both Strief and Brown. I guess we'll keep a RB in all day to help out.

Thank god we are playing at home at least. This game needs to be about grabbing the bull by the horns.

Drew is gonna give a clinic in quick-release excellence.

That juicer from the Packers and the other one from the Vikings have had no success when planned for.

If Graham chips him hard enough, he will develop a TICK and be removed from the field to regain his composure.

They are a really formidable defense. BUT, putting on an epic performance in the pouring rain on a shoddy field against a backup quarterback and a notoriously shabby O-line (remember how we manhandled Cutler and the Bears in the Dome last year?)...well taken as a whole with all the factors, it's not exactly a game for the ages if you ask me. Don't let them get inside your heads, folks.

Chicago Bears have the worst pass and run offensive line in the NFL. Campbell has and extremely slow release.

Why didn't he do this in the other games ?

Im not impressed. W. Smith would have looked like a pro bowler vs them.
