Are we facing Colin Kaepernick Sunday?

So, will Harbaugh hand the ball once again to Kaepernick at the Superdome on Sunday, and perhaps beyond? "We'll see," the coach said. "I usually tend to go with the guy who's got the hot hand, and we've got two quarterbacks that have got a hot hand."

Interesting development. Kaepernick does indeed have the hot hand. Saints will need to prepare for both QBs. If I had t guess though I'd say Smith. It's too late in the season to start messing with a formula that was working.

Who cares about their QB. Did you notice what they did to Campbell! We now have a patchwork O-line, Saints better come up with some schemes to block for Brees or it's going to be a long day in the Superdome.

Brees is one of the best protected QB's...
I don't see that changing in this game. More important things to worry about

Re: Are we facing Colin Kaepernick Sunday?

Brees was one of the best protected QBs in the league at 3:05 pm on last Sunday.. We lost an o-line man, that has the potential to change everything.

With Brown out (knee) relief for Bushrod will be costly. Strief is out (groin), leaving Bryce Harris...

Re: Are we facing Colin Kaepernick Sunday?

He had help with a TE, Harris did... but it was a quickie adjustment during the game. Perhaps with a game plan in place we'll see some progress. Still, Brees' quick release is second to none, which makes an OLine look better.

OTOH, Kaepernick looked decent. He may be more trouble and Smith. He is a rookie, however.

Which means we have little tape on tendencies etc... An unkown is a lot more difficult to deal with an a known.

True..... but there is game tape now unlike what we had to deal with in RG3.

In an odd sort of way I want Alex Smith...
I want vendication... I want him to have a bad day... I want us to be the reason they MUST go with the rookie next week.

Re: Are we facing Colin Kaepernick Sunday?

I could careless who we see under center, as long as we win...

Both QB's have looked decent this season, and if I had to choose I'd go with Kaepernick just because he has less experience...

And if we don't contain that D-Line, it won't matter too much anyway

Re: Are we facing Colin Kaepernick Sunday?

If our D don't stop them we are in trouble, the O will be fine just as long as we don't turn the ball over. I feel like this could be a classic if our D shows up. I wish our back-up qb. was their back-up qb. that guy looked great. Now is the time I miss Payton the most, crunch time!!

In a perfect world, Shanle will spear Frank Gore and he'll be out for the rest of the season. Shanle will be ejected and banned from football. This will happen on the second play from scrimmage.

We owe them that.

This should be a war, waged in a manner that even the Falcons have never seen.

We owe them.

Re: Are we facing Colin Kaepernick Sunday?

Our defense only needs to stop them on key plays, which we have been doing. We are not a good defense by any means but we are opportunistic (same as 2009).

I have recently noticed that more dropped passes, tips, and bobbles are nearly caught by our defenders.

In a perfect world Shanle, Gore, Goodell, and Aldon Smith would be arrested for transsexual prostitution and during the search a key of coke and illegal automatic weapons would be found.

Kap has been consistent when he is on the field.. He looked this good in preseason... I am not worried about their offense. We played Manning well and SF is no Manning run offense..

My concerns are with their defense.

Re: Are we facing Colin Kaepernick Sunday?

I just want to say that I feel this was a mind*+^% on Harbaugh's part ( sorry, I can't think of another word to express what is being done) And the media is no help. it can go badly for us if we over think the whole hes got a good arm thing, or for them creating a war within the team. And for the record I want Smith in.

Re: Are we facing Colin Kaepernick Sunday?

Be mindful his first game was against the Rams a few 9'rs will say he didn't do so great that game. But the rest have forgotten that and jumped ship on Smith.

Re: Are we facing Colin Kaepernick Sunday?

You can rest assured that Smith will be the starting QB. Kaepernick is a 2nd year guy with limited experience and while he looked good in one game it doesn't get him the starting job. Theres a ton of examples of back ups having great games. Make a few plays on defense, get a couple of key stops and Drew and co. will take care of the rest.

Whoever the "hot" hand is will hopefully be "cold" by the end of the game.

You think we played Manning well? You're talking about Peyton Manning, this year? We were awful against him. But at least you're right, in that we won't be facing the same type of offense. Though Denver isn't exactly a juggernaut... We just happened to make them look that way.

Props to Peyton, he's great, but I think our Def went into "oh ****" mode and actually made him look alot better.

Harsh...but effective

Re: Are we facing Colin Kaepernick Sunday?

Kaepernick will give us tons of problems. He has a bigger arm, he can throw accurately deep. He seems fast as hell. He was drafted by Harbaugh. He is the guy.

Jamessr 11-21-2012 09:02 AM

Re: Are we facing Colin Kaepernick Sunday?

Be prepared to see both... Smith will have a bad day... Kaepernick will be forced to come in and TRY and save the game.
In the end he will fail and we can all do our Dr. Evil laugh

Beastmode 11-21-2012 09:28 AM

Re: Are we facing Colin Kaepernick Sunday?

I think Smith is done. Decent game manager but below avg on everything else. If their defense has a bad game he can't dig you out of a hole.

Re: Are we facing Colin Kaepernick Sunday?

Whoever is SF49 qb, Saints job will be to have defense tackle. Tackle. Run and tackle and make some big plays. Game changers. Get it back for offense. Pic one or two off 49'ers' qb .
Saints offense needs to protect Brees, and hold and keep their time and to get ball to rb's, etc.
Hapernick is young, tall, strong. He showed up really something special last week. I had to google this guy.
Saints offense and defense, just period, have to bring it.
Finish strong!!!!! Finish strong.:bng:
