Saints vs 49ers: What They’re Not Telling You
Somewhere, in the darkness of the night, a plane moved across the sky from San Francisco to New Orleans. I can imagine Drew Brees staring into the darkness that enveloped the plane, mulling over the plays he wish he had back against the 49ers in their playoff tilt. Shortly following that loss, albeit a couple of minutes or a few days, Brees, along with the rest of the Saints, promised themselves and each other not to give up on this team. Through it all, the Saints have shown a tremendous amount of audacity. It feels as though the Saints have lost more this season than the Detroit Lions did in the 80′s. Somehow, the Saints have seen their way through it all and finally have a chance at getting above .500. The San Francisco 49ers come into town on Sunday boasting one of the best defenses in the league. The 49ers are 2nd in the league in yards allowed per game with 277.7 yd/g, with only the Steelers ahead of them. The Niners also lead the league in points allowed per game, only giving up a paltry 13.4 per game. That’s amazing! But wait a minute, let’s delve a little deeper into that number and we’ll see how deceiving that is. In five games this season, the 49ers have held their opponents to 7 points or less. Take a look at the numbers and the stats.

Re: Saints vs 49ers: What They’re Not Telling You
Not bad. A lot of selective stats but very interesting.
However I doubt we score 38 on the 49ers without a defensive TD and/or a special teams TD. I hope the players don't think this will be as easy. |

In 48 hours it'll be in the books and we'll be basically IN or OUT.
Consult your doctor before beginning an aspirin regimen. F' DAT. I'm taking a whole bottle to this game! Alaska |
Re: Saints vs 49ers: What They’re Not Telling You
I'll take a 3-2 win any time or where in nov.

Yeah we got a good defense. Good stopping the pass and run and not allowing many points.
|
Re: Saints vs 49ers: What They’re Not Telling You
I reckon we do not get 38 either.
If we can hold them to 20, we stand a very good chance. To the game. |
Re: Saints vs 49ers: What They’re Not Telling You
Good read, but our D still has to show up period!! Someone on the D has to catch fire and set the tone for the others to feed off of, Denver made the D look like school kids and thats the D I'm scared of that could show up at any time. If we win it has to be a great effort on both sides of the ball, not just 1.

It's NOVEMBER.

Re: Saints vs 49ers: What They’re Not Telling You
I reckon if the Rams can score 24, we should be able to score at least 30, given no turnovers on our part. 38 is certainly doable too.

Re: Saints vs 49ers: What They’re Not Telling You
It's not D...rew wishing for any plays back it's just plain D that wants that. We had five turnovers and still had the game in our pocket with one defensive stop. Here's to hoping for a better showing this year.

Re: Saints vs 49ers: What They’re Not Telling You
If we don't turn the ball over, and don't quit on the run game, we take this game and I think 38 is very reasonable. What I want to see is no stupid penalties, no stupid antics of any kind all game long and even after the game. Don't give these guys ammunition for our next meeting in the playoffs.

Re: Saints vs 49ers: What They’re Not Telling You
This is an interesting stat if you look at the last 6 games but we still given up a lot of yards
PAST 6 GAMES Record OPP PTS PG Sacks Steelers D* 4-2 17.3 12 49ers D** 4-1-1 11.5 15 Saints D 5-1 23.8 18 * Steelers defense is #1 overall in the league ** 49ers defense is #2 overall in the league |

SF has played off and on all season, so your defense is very beatable, especially with the Saints offense that has remained constantly elite for 6 years. Its not going to be easy, but we have blown out elite defenses before, same as we carved up your defense last year. IF you don't believe me here are your rankings 2011 DEFENSIVE EFFICIENCY RATINGS #3 FOOTBALL OUTSIDERS: Innovative Statistics, Intelligent Analysis | 2011 DEFENSIVE EFFICIENCY RATINGS 2012 DEFENSIVE EFFICIENCY RATINGS #6 FOOTBALL OUTSIDERS: Innovative Statistics, Intelligent Analysis | 2012 DEFENSIVE EFFICIENCY RATINGS 2011 DEFENSIVE LINES #4 FOOTBALL OUTSIDERS: Innovative Statistics, Intelligent Analysis | 2011 DEFENSIVE LINES 2012 DEFENSIVE LINES #14 FOOTBALL OUTSIDERS: Innovative Statistics, Intelligent Analysis | 2012 DEFENSIVE LINES Im really not understanding why SF fans think their defense is better than last year, because its simply not. Im sure its just the Bears game that makes them think that, and thats just silly vs the #32 pass protection OL in the NFL. Buy the way your OL is #31 in pass protection :) That should be fun. |

Is this the Game Day Thread?

Re: Saints vs 49ers: What They’re Not Telling You
Well what they dont really tell you about rankings is that it is skewed based on the Division.
49ers play in a division where offense is 2nd rate to defense. Many teams are like this, Ravens ring a bell? Everytime they have faced a good offense, that offense has scored so much on them its pitiful. Is the 49ers Defense that great? No Why do they win? Because they have balance, a Balanced game produces more wins, that and they do face alot of cupcakes or teams at the right time. I think todays game is the 49ers facing the Saints at the wrong time, Wrong time for the 49ers that is, and the 49ers will lose that battle. |

This game I don't think is the make or break. I think if we have 7 losses is when that happens. Honestly these next two we need to get through at least 1-1 because I feel confident in our last four. I thought 9-7 could be okay to have just one problem with that.....the redskins. If they split their next two games it comes down to if Eagles go on a late run and if they do they can beat them week 16 especially if Vick is back as he has had their number. Seattle has to lose to Miami though today for that to happen. Its 14-7 Seattle atm.

Re: Saints vs 49ers: What They’re Not Telling You
