New Jump on the Brees Fault Bandwagon

We sure did get a lot for that $100 million

Every clutch situation was a fail. Awesome.

This gift will just keep on giving. Year after year after year. 2017 can't come fast enough.

Who's the best high school qb? We better scout that boy fast.

5 pics, every pass was behind the receiver. I'm still blaming on that contract crap in the offseason and not showing up for training camp. oh, and Goodell.

Gross over-reaction.

Drew lays an egg 2 or 3 times every year. This year is no different, except that we don't have a head coach.

danno.....this was the biggest and most important game of the year...it WAS Brees fault

Drew needs the other half of his head to be 100% = Sean Payton..... I figure this site is about to act like the worlds endin now that we lost this one... Go ahead Bree's haters ! .... But without him we be lucky to win 1 game this year....

Re: New Jump on the Brees Fault Bandwagon

Nah, all they're gonna do now is win just enough games to screw us out of a decent draft pick. It's what they do. After this many games, I got to say, Spags ain't getting it done. His defense is garbage. Failcons got the best DC, we got screwed. Oh well, wait til next year.

I am not saying that I blame Brees for everything or that I want a new qb for our team effective immediately.

I am just saying that if I didn't see his face for a week or so, that would be great. That was just such garbage.

this game was big, but at the same time blowing games to KC, washington and carolina are the reason that this game was so important.
glad to see all the naysayers who showed up to bash brees when we were 0-4 haven't gone anywhere...

For Heaven's sake --

Nobody really thinks Drew's salary precludes him from a bad game right? Even a few, even if back to back.

Everybody take a pill. If any single player in the NFL had earned a mulligan or two, it's Drew.

We're not Brees haters Allsaints, but we're not going to sugar coat that crap we saw tonight, from Brees, or anybody else on the team. In case you didn't notice, we SUCKED tonight.

Re: New Jump on the Brees Fault Bandwagon

I have no idea why Drew has a problem with tucking that ball and running for 10. I saw at least 4 drop backs where there was nothing but space in front of him, but he's looking for that deep strike...too predictable.

AlaskaSaints 11-29-2012 11:24 PM

Re: New Jump on the Brees Fault Bandwagon

Remember that still shot of Drew in mid-air reaching over the line?

Yeah, well that was BEFORE he had to be insured by Moody's.

He hasn't run for ten yards since the contract dried. I begrudge him that.

And to those who say we can't win without him... 31 teams DON'T have Drew. Some do just fine. Even make it to the Superbowl every couple years.

I'm extremely frustrated tonight. Happy that I didn't drink!!!!!

Oh no. Don't you go blaming this one on the defense. They played a great game . This one is all on Drew.

Re: New Jump on the Brees Fault Bandwagon

that was the worst performance i seen from Brees but I still want him on our team. Defense played a helluva game in the second half. Did anyone notice the defense stepped up when Vilma was replace by Jonathan Casillas & Ellis replaced by AKIEM HICKS? just saying cuz i seen a lot of times Vilma couldn't get off his block to make the tackle or he will miss entirely. Hicks was just dominating the middle. I am not saying make them starter.

Pierre Thomas stepped up but idk what happen to Ivory, for once Ingram outplayed him. I am not blamming him for that poorly thrown ball by Brees but I know PT would've caught it

His goods FAR out weigh his bads, by a long shot.
Even with these past two weeks on the tray, the scale hasn't moved.

Re: New Jump on the Brees Fault Bandwagon

I am realistic.
Brews was worth the money for services rendered. Ok.
I feel , because every team has to rebuild and no player stays on top forever, a two year great contract would have better than four.
Brees has a good two years, maybe three left.
This year is a lost all the way around.
YES, he had two awful games . Unlike him at all points.
Acting like a rookie. A newbie.
STILL, still, he is an elite qb. He has reached that level.
Still, he has been a team leader and NFL players' union leader.
YES, he did more than enough to lose these last two games.
Saints for this year:
DB losing these past two games.
Defense early on missing tackles.
No head coach and the head coach.
Missing coaching for half the year-Vitt.
New coach on staff-Spanola
Brees mssing camp time.
Vilma out first half of season. He is a team leader and just brings that something extra in smarts, leadership, enforces what Sean Payton says do.
Did I say, that man, the leader of the players and coaching staff is not there?
Remember when he was out that one game, I think it was one game from not being on the sidelines when his leg was broken. Remember.
Totally different team out there without the MAN being on the sidelines running his players his coaches.

2012 is what is was and was set to be per Goodell and it is not over yet.

Best that happen and what I hope to see is 8-8 ending. Forget 2012 Saints' year. That would be GREAT under these circumstances.
I was hoping for 9-7 or 8-8 when the Saints made it too 5-5.
Realistically, 8-8, no WC playoff , would be great!

Lets not throw the baby out with the bathwater, no.

I believe he put too much pressure on himself.

Off subject. I'm wondering why we didn't run the ball after we scored 3 in the second half. That's when he threw the 3rd interception.

Re: New Jump on the Brees Fault Bandwagon

He has played awful last two games, but scouting high school qbs? A little extreme. Watching him on the sideline, it's obvious that no one feels worse about his performance than he does. He's the reason our expectations are so high. There was a time when we would have been ecstatic about our current record. He probably gets too much credit when we win and too much credit when we lose. Problems with dline, oline, bountygate; problems all the way around. We are not the Jet fan nation, we are the Who Dat nation. Let's support our WHOLE team and give them a chance.

He didn't have just two bad games.

Washington, Carolina, KC, and Denver were horrific. 6 games out of 12. And he is worse in the second half than the first, which is terrible considering we're usually losing because the first half was miserable.

You contradicted your self a little...

Think about it... Is it Brees fault for having a horrible game, or was it the coaches (or lack of) fault for not pulling him.

Atlanta didnt beat us, we beat our selves, and even the best players need to be saved from their own destruction from time to time.

He's a professional athlete and at the end of the day, I'm not going to make excuses for him.

That being said, I'm gonna' consider how the 31 other QB's in the league would perform without their H/C and the level of interim coaches Brees has been asked to play under this season.

So, in effect, I don't think you punch a ticket for the 'Brees Fault Bandwagon' just yet.

Impossible to prove and a very improbable claim at that.

Maybe if Brees wasn't re-signed, but without that money saved on not re-signing him not having been available to the FO for some reason.

I still do think that the Saints would've won more than a single game this season even if Daniel would've been the starting QB - if anything, it would've forced Carmichael to concentrate more on the running game, and maybe the Saints would've become a run-first type of an offense with Daniel, for which they definitely would've had the group of backs for.

Still, I don't think re-signing of Brees was a mistake and I don't think that he was overpaid by the FO - and I do believe the Saints have a far better offense with Brees on the team than without him.

...these past two games just have really tested mine and probably many others' belief in his ability to make the right decision on the field in clutch situations and what has been even more concerning is that his accuracy has been off far too many times for it to be considered an anomaly. :-(

If Payton were the coach last week don't you think he'd have countered with a few "running QB" plays with Chase? Vitt has that John Fox "WTH is going on?" look all the time.
