Brad Childress shows up to testify in bounty hearing
1 Attachment(s)
Browns offensive coordinator Brad Childress has made the flight from California to Louisiana to testify before former Commissioner Paul Tagliabue, according to Larry Holder of the New Orleans Times-Picayune.
Childress, the former head coach of the Vikings, reportedly got the bounty ball rolling by complaining to the league office that the Saints had a price tag on the head (and other body parts) of former Vikings quarterback Brett Favre. Childress specifically said that former Vikings defensive tackle Jimmy Kennedy had said the Saints had a bounty on Favre. During the prior phases and stages of the bounty case, Childress had no involvement. Technically, he has no relevance to what did or didn’t happen, since he was merely acting on hearsay and rumor when he reported the bounty to the league office. And so it’s fair to infer that he’s not testifying because the NFL thinks his version of the facts is relevant, but because the players’ lawyers want to have the opportunity to question him — or because Tagliabue is curious regarding how this all got started, especially since Kennedy vehemently has claimed that he never said anything to anyone about a bounty. Brad Childress has something important to say? Said NO ONE EVER.

Re: Brad Childress shows up to testify in bounty hearing
First of all, anything Brad has to say is heresay. He heard from someone else that the Saints had a bounty??? This is such horse hockey. I hope his plane crashes on his way back to Cleveland.

Re: Brad Childress shows up to testify in bounty hearing
Sounds like a Goodell tactic trying to validate his actions.

Re: Brad Childress shows up to testify in bounty hearing
I'd expect nothing less from Childress.
Any coach who would dress up like a woman.... |

Re: Brad Childress shows up to testify in bounty hearing
Will Kennedy testify as well?

Re: Brad Childress shows up to testify in bounty hearing
The NFL allowing Brad Childress to testify in hearings at all is proof positive that this case is based on hearsay and biased opinion.
Childress has no factual knowledge of the matter other than, as marlboroman said - "someone told him" something. His appearance in the hearing shows the NFL depended on faulty evidence, hearsay, and loosely draw observations/conclusions. Childress is biased to his own demise as a coach over his loss to the Saints in the NFCCG. End of story. Must be a tactic used by Vilma's team, otherwise the NFL is in more serious hot water than I first thought.:dunce: |
Re: Brad Childress shows up to testify in bounty hearing
From an AP article this morning:
Childress had informed the NFL after that game he'd heard from former player Jimmy Kennedy that the Saints had a bounty on Favre. Childress is currently the Cleveland Browns offensive coordinator. The NFL also has identified Kennedy as one of its witnesses, but Kennedy has said the league is lying about his statements. He added that the league irreparably damaged his reputation by its "shoddy, careless, shameful so-called investigation." According to the NFL, Kennedy heard about the bounty from Hargrove, who has also denied knowledge of a bounty program. I would think anything Childress says would HAVE to be followed with testimony by Kennedy and Hargrove. The Associated Press: Tagliabue, Saints continue bounty hearings |
Re: Brad Childress shows up to testify in bounty hearing
Really Childress? Don't you have other things to worry about? Like leading the Browns to a playoff berth? Oh wait...

Re: Brad Childress shows up to testify in bounty hearing
Childress was TOLD to show up by his employer... cant fault a man for doing that, and this is Tagliabu doing what Goodell never did, being thorough. Any investigation has to go all the way back to the start to find intent.
The Ifs: If Childress says Kenedy told him that and Kenedy corroborates under oath then Judge Berrigan will know exactly where all of this started from. IF Kennedy denies corroborating with Childress then in Judge Berrigans eyes it looks like a concocted smear campaign... Testify Childress... PLEASE do. That way Kennedy can call you and the League liars, that way when it gets back to Judge Berrigan her feelings that this was unfair and just a campaign to give the league something to argue in concussion hearings will be true and justified and she can slam all of you. |
Re: Brad Childress shows up to testify in bounty hearing
Where is Kennedy's proof!?!?!?!
All his word will be worth is "I heard from a guy who heard from another guy that said..". GOD I HATE GOODELL!!!!! |
Re: Brad Childress shows up to testify in bounty hearing
Jimmy Kennedy won’t be testifying in bounty appeal
Posted by Mike Florio on December 3, 2012, 2:23 PM EST The involvement of former Vikings coach Brad Childress in the bounty appeal hearing was curious, to say the least. He has no knowledge of anything related to what the Saints were or weren’t doing; instead, Childress was the guy who complained to the league that the Saints had a bounty on former Vikings quarterback Brett Favre, based allegedly on information former Vikings defensive tackle Jimmy Kennedy had provided to Childress. So Kennedy will be testifying regarding where he heard about the bounty, right? Nope. Kennedy tells PFT that he won’t be testifying, and that neither his agent nor his lawyer were contacted regarding the possibility. Basically, then, the only value Childress could have brought to the table was that Kennedy told him that someone told him the Saints had a bounty system. Does Brad know this won't make his hair grow back - or make him something more than a crappy coach?

Favre has zero respect for Childress and he's already stated that he didn't feel that the defenders play was cheating. Bring it on!! |
Re: Brad Childress shows up to testify in bounty hearing
Vilma needs to call in some random person who heard from someone else that it was all bull****. Might as well make a mockery of the mockery.

Re: Brad Childress shows up to testify in bounty hearing
Just because the League doesn't call Kennedy in does not mean Vilma's side cant.
But hey.... When Kenedy is not allowed to testify on what Childress says he said, Judge Berrigan will see yet another injustice. |
Re: Brad Childress shows up to testify in bounty hearing
Thanks for showing up.........especially since your team never does.
