Pierre-Paul: Drew Brees is “much easier” matchup than RG3
 

In their last two games against the Giants, which came in 2009 and 2011, the Saints have put up 97 points on their way to two blowout victories.

Despite that, defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul thinks this week’s date with New Orleans will go better than Monday night’s meeting with the Redskins. In particular, he thinks it will be “much easier” for the defense to face Drew Brees than it was to match up with Robert Griffin III in Washington’s 17-16 win.

Pierre-Paul cited the lack of the option in the New Orleans playbook as the biggest reason why things are so much easier and it generally makes sense that a defense would rather face a more traditional offense, even one that has put up the numbers the Saints have put up over the last few years. The Giants defense has had problems with offenses of all stripes this season, though, and Pierre-Paul called the defense “a little soft” while making the case that the team needs to make a statement.

I understand what he means, even though some may say he means RGIII is a better QB, but thats not how I read it.

If I'm a D-lineman I'd rather face Brees than RGIII too.

Without a doubt. A really good running QB is a ***** to defend. Film meetings after such a game is usually not a pleasent thing even if you win...

It might be easier for him as an individual defensive lineman to face Brees rather than RGIII, but how's that working out for the defense as a whole? I didn't see RGIII slapping a 90-burger on the Giants in his last two outings against them, eh?

Running QBs give defenses hell. However, I can't remember the last running QB called elite, hall of fame'r, top 3.

While Rodgers "can" run, he is not a running QB like RGIII, Vick, Tebow.....

He doesn't have to respect his containment responsibilities on passing plays and he can just pin his ears back and pass rush. That's what he means.

all of a sudden sinse the loss to the skins they have to make it a statement game against the saints. so if i'm hearing it right what u really mean is your going to put out this game because u were suppose to win that game against redskins on playing halfass. see this is what i meant to say. glad i cleared ur crap up.

Which is what a passrusher loves. A mobile quarterback in general are better att extending plays than a "regular" QB. But guys like Brees, Brady, Rodgers and the older Manning brother are not regular QBs but a tier above, they don't have to be mobile to pick you apart.

If Drew plays like he has the last couple weeks, he might be the easiest QB to face in the entire league. 5 picks makes a strong case for that. But considering the Redskins just scored 17 points against the Giants (How is that impressive?), and the Saints have scored an average of eleventy billion points against them in the last couple meetings, I think this is one of the dumbest statements I've heard by any player. Is Griffin a better athlete? Duh. But the fact is that they haven't been able to touch Drew and he has ripped them apart. Can't say that about Griffin.

The only thing to worry about is which Brees shows up.

Good point, I had to think way back to Scramblin' Fran Tarkenton of the Minnesota Vikings to come up with a running QB that was considered one of the top 3 or 4 QBs in the league at his time.

I rarely watch College football, Saturdays are busy with family and things i cant do during the week, so I can watch the Saints on Sunday.

Probably why I don't care for running QBs, that's more college than NFL. To me a running/scrambling QB is an accident looking for a place to happen. A QB running in the NFL means a breakdown on the o-line, or receivers can't get open, or he can't throw a pass worth attempting.

Nobody is respecting the Saints because the Saints have not earned any respect this year.

Hell looking back at the last two weeks, Id rather go against Drew then just about anyone in the league, with the exception of mark Sanchez.
